It’s after Labor Day and I’m here to tell you that I’m not putting up my whites. With it being a new month, I thought it was a good time to revisit my resolutions for the year and see how I’ve been doing in working on myself, for myself, by myself. Let me know in the comments how you’re doing!

New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | Goals Not Resolutions
I prefer to set goals for myself over resolutions but the overall objective is the same: live my best life with good intentions. When I wrote my post back in December, I talked about how I wanted to value myself and continue to only forge friendships (and relationships) with people that saw that value as well. One thing I wrote that really stands out to me is this:
There are some standards we should never sacrifice. Click To TweetMost importantly, always remember how you want and deserve to be treated. Someone that can’t see your value and treat you accordingly shouldn’t have room in your personal life. Everyone has to grow in relationships {both platonic and romantic}, but there are some standards we should never sacrifice.

PHEW. A word. I’m not sure if December ’17 me knew what was in store for me this year, but reading those words struck home as it’s something I’ve struggled with a lot. I’d say I still have some work to do on this front, but I’m excited to see where I’m at with this one at the end of the year.
New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | More Intentional Blogging
Towards the end of last year, I crafted What Nicole Wore’s mission statement with a focus on being an inclusive community and wearing what you love. I knew I wanted to blog with more intention in my writing by being a little more vulnerable and open here. What I’ve found is that writing these more personal pieces can be draining, but tend to be the ones that readers connect with. I’m still trying to find the sweet spot of how often to get personal versus when to share an outfit post so if you have any feedback on that…let me know!

I also talked about how I wanted to showcase shopping your closet, whether it be creating a capsule or just finding different ways to style pieces you already have. Back in July, I started a new kind of ~series~ on my Instagram where I show three ways to style one piece. I wasn’t sure how it would go over as the mirror selfies are far from high quality blog photos, but it’s been received so well and is definitely something I plan to keep doing. I’ve also been trying to get better about throwing up more “everyday,” type pictures and that more authentic take seems to be something my audience on IG likes.
New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | Learning is Earning
I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned this before, but last November my trusty blog camera died and I hastily replaced it with my first DSLR. This year, I took an introductory photography class & I think its helped me a lot with my blog photography. {For those that don’t know, I’m a one woman show and take all my own blog photos!}
I also invested in Adobe Lightroom so that I could take my photo editing to the next level and have really enjoyed learning the Adobe suite to up my graphics and tie in some brand consistency. Overall, I feel really good about all the learning I’ve done this year, both for the blog and for myself personally.
New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | Being Present
What is work life balance? Not entirely sure it exists… Setting boundaries can be hard for me because I always feel like there’s something I can be doing. Something I read recently said basically to fill your life with so much that you don’t have time to worry & I think 2018 for me is the year where that’s happened. Definitely not saying that I’m cured of my anxiety {lol we all wish}, but taking on more responsibilities in my personal life has forced my to balance things and also to enjoy life a little more whether that be saying yes to going out or knowing that I have to say no to something that doesn’t help me grow.
New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | Valuing My Health
Again, I swear I have psychic abilities. I wrote about wanting to cut electronics out of my bedtime routine which has still not happened. LOL, I’m going to be real — life just doesn’t allow this one for me. However, I didn’t realize how much of my life would center around health this year. In April, we had the great strep throat-mono-allergic reaction combo that totally zapped my energy. I knew I’d struggle with fatigue for awhile, but forced myself to start going to the gym in July because I was feeling so sluggish.
My therapist ALWAYS tells me to work out regularly because it helps me so much with my mental health so not feeling physically able to workout was the last kick I needed to make a doctors appointment. I was tired of being tired and not knowing WTF was up with my own body. We quickly figured out that stress was causing the fatigue symptom to linger and that my severe vitamin deficiencies haven’t gotten any better the past couple of years.
Health is wealth...take ya vitamins! Click To TweetRELATED: 5 Crazy Things & the Stigma Around Mental Health
While dragging myself to the gym had helped me to regulate my sleep schedule, I needed to start a serious vitamin regimen. I now feel like an old woman with the approx. 2903479 pills I have to take, but I’m hoping to see an end to my mono symptoms flaring up, to feel like myself again, and not be this hangry, sleepy shell.
New Season, New Goals? Revisiting My Resolutions | The Outfit
Now that I’ve chatted your ear off let’s talk clothes, shall we? I’ve been choosing a color of the month for a hot second now over on Pinterest, but decided to try and coordinate some of my blog photos with it this month too. I knew September was going to be all about pink and so I made sure to handpick pink pieces from SheIn; this sweater jumped out at me with the colorblock stripes! I love that it has purple, blush pink, and a neutral tan. While I wore mine here with white jeans, it also looks great with blue jeans or even leggings.
There was some sweet satisfaction when I realized the bottom purple stripe was a near perfect match for my favorite Rebecca Minkoff purse -AND- my new Baublebar for Target statement earrings. It really is the little things! Also have to give props to these new Bearpaw wedges; I’m SO happy with the shoes I picked out for end of summer. This pair is the perfect color to wear year round and the sole is incredibly comfortable. As an added perk, they’re on sale PLUS an extra 20% off with my ambassador code: BPAMBNG — get a pair so we can match!

It’s amazing you do all your own photography – I would not be able to tell! That Instagram series you do is such a cool way to make the most of what you already own! I also like revisiting my goals/resolutions for the year. I find it’s the best way to stay on track!

Yes! I use September as a month to reset and revisit my goals as well. Also, I totally wear white after labor day. That’s a rule I’ve never cared to follow.

Love your outfit! It’s so happy 🙂 The sweater is so cute + always love white jeans (they go with EVERYTHING!!!). I struggle with setting boundaries, too. It’s hard to say “no”, even when you’re totally exhausted. Keep at it 🙂

Revisiting your resolutions is so smart and important! So many people’s resolutions fail because they “set them and forget them.” Love the point about being intentional and reevaluating your mission. Super cute outfit, by the way!

i love this colourful look for the fall, i too wore white jeans yesterday and was not apologetic for it one bit! What a great blogpost about self-care!! I too have to take plethora of vitamins etc and workout to make it through the day, but the alternatives are less appealing! Hang in there.
