Happy Wednesday and happy first day of autumn! While the mornings have been in the mid 50s lately, it’s still warming up to the mid 80s by the afternoon. Still, I found a chance to pull my herringbone vest out of storage earlier this week and went for it. I haven’t moved my vest collection out of my cedar closet and into my actual closet yet, but this may be the way I start dealing with cold mornings and hot afternoons. This fun buffalo plaid vest (under $30) is always super fun to wear.
Vests have been my fall staples for awhile now and what I really love about the herringbone print is how well it goes with other patterns. Here are a couple past examples of looks with the “it” vest of fall: with stripes, with buffalo plaid, and with a graphic sweater. I’ve had this vest for two years now and the quality is really good — the down filling makes it super warm and I like how lightweight it is as well. I always hold out for a sale when I’m buying these vests from JCF, $108 is steep in my opinion, and can usually get the price down to somewhere between $55-$65.
Still not super cheap, but I do find the fit and materials superior to the similar style vests I’ve purchased from various boutiques at a similar price point. I would recommend sizing down if you’re looking at ordering this year’s J Crew Factory version. If you like the black piping as opposed to the steel gray they’re offering this year, several boutiques are carrying that black.
I snagged this new Elisa necklace a few weeks ago while Kendra Scott was donating a percentage of proceeds to cancer research and am so in love! I wear my silver and gold druzy Elisa pretty frequently — the daintiness of the style is perfect for necklace layering and the druzy options are an awesome tiny, shiny statement.
I knew I wanted to have this one when it first came out because the pewter chain and black druzy really called to me. I love how these pieces can go with everything.
I love when the weather cools down but isn’t slap you in the face cold, so I’m looking forward to being able to take tea in my Kate Spade travel mug, hot apple cider with cinnamon, pumpkin cookies (I’m a big believer that pumpkin is something you eat and don’t drink, no PSLs here), and seeing the leaves change.
