Hi, I’m Nicole, the Virginia blogger behind What Nicole Wore. I’m a young professional that recently moved back to Northern Virginia after living in Louisville, Kentucky for eight years. In 2015, I launched my blog after noticing a lack of Black women being included in social media and blogger campaigns for fashion and lifestyle brands.
In my five plus years of blogging, I’ve been honored to be recognized by Southern Living Magazine as part of their South’s Most Stylish list as well as for a multi-page spread with my personal city guide to the Derby City, a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority’s inaugural 35 Under 35, and work with a number of large fashion and lifestyle brands from Listerine to Draper James to Neutrogena.
I grew up across the country: Northern California, Vienna, Virginia, and Louisville, Kentucky. My experiences from living all over and growing up in a multicultural family continue to influence me. Immersing myself in a wide variety of cultures at a young age taught me to embrace and not be afraid of the unknown.
In my spare time, I enjoy volunteering as an advisor for my sorority, reading, watching basketball and grabbing a bite to eat with friends. My personal style can best be described as classic prints with a large appreciation for bold colors and unexpected mixes. I’m excited to share more of my daily life as a Washington DC blogger and what it’s like living in Northern Virginia.
