I picked out outfits this week based around four different IG style challenges: #wearwhatwhereapril hosted by @wearwhatwhere, #springbreakstylechallenge hosted by @ruffletuesday @alyssakmartinez & @teachinspirechange, #AccessorizeMeApril hosted by @jcrewismyfavestore and @jiataedaley_ , #shannonsastylechallenge14 hosted by @shannonsa.
I’ve found I don’t always want to participate every single day in a style challenge but I enjoy seeing how other people style similar colors, items, etc. It definitely helps on days when you’re just not sure what you really want to wear.
I bought this H&M maxi dress last summer and I loveeeeeee it! I mean, I love maxis a lot because they appear dressy but are actually perfect, comfy nap attire. This one has an extra ruffle layer over the top and was under $20.
Also, my freshman year of high school everyone carried a Longchamp and my mom refused to drop $145 on a bag — at the time I was bitter about it, now I feel you, Mom. I was digging through a consignment shop recently and found this one hanging up for $30. It’s the large size, so I can fit my laptop, agenda, snacks, drinks and purse essentials in which is awesome for long days of running from place to place and road trips. Plus the color’s super fun & one that I didn’t already own a purse in, which is always a plus for me.
If you follow me on instagram, you saw this story but as I was snapping this pic I realized my neighbor’s house had been struck by lightning and was on fire — OOPS. So over April showers!
These Roz & Ali denim leggings are my holy grail of jeans. I’m pear shaped which I’ve learned to embrace over the years but jean shopping is always such a pain because small waist + big hips + large thighs does not equal cute jeans that fit. I used to always have jeans that had 2-3 inches of extra fabric on my waist because nothing else would fit my thighs/booty. I tried these on at a DressBarn when I was helping my mom shop at the suggestion of a sales associate and bought 4 more pairs this year just in case. Fingers crossed they never stop making these.
My sequined top is available once again online at J Crew Factory and in 3 colors! Hallelujah for real. Currently trying to justify purchasing it in black and navy. I bought mine 2 years ago around the holidays and have found it’s super fun to wear solo or layer. I get so many compliments on it and it’s so fun — you need one!
Love wearing this tee on lazy days off when I can’t possibly be late. I have definitely improved my arriving on time skills in the past year, thank you Lord. Still this tee is a favorite for it’s cheekiness. And this Loren Hope necklace is BAE. I did end up returning it with my Rocksbox and am already missing it.
Red nails scream summer to me, but I couldn’t resist this shade any longer. It’s my favorite red that I own and always looks good. This turquoise necklace is an old $3 find that I always overlook, but looks so pretty…I definitely need to remember to wear it more.
I said before that this shirt was my ‘I have nothing to wear’ wardrobe saver — so true. I tried on ~five different outfits and just felt unpolished and gross looking in all of them before I ended up reaching for the polka dot button down and my new white jeans. I’ve been anti white jeans (for myself, not on others) forever. I always felt like they were unflattering, made my lower body look wider, would get stained easily. One out of those three complaints is true with these — however, I did manage to eat dad’s chili without dropping any on these #HOLLA. Like I said earlier, these jeans fit me so well and are a little bit higher waisted than the low cut jeans everyone’s so hung up on. I really appreciate not having to worry about them being too tight or too low.
The weekend is ending, but I’ll take the 70+ degree weather. These shorts are an old fave — I’ve linked a style that’s similar but more than I’d pay for shorts. If you’re looking for sailboat shorts, I’d wait a little longer, I really think multiple stores will have them soon. UPDATE: linked to a more affordable pair!
I can’t say enough good things about these H&M cardigans; they’re on sale right now and I am so tempted to snatch up some more. They’re long sleeved so you can wear them year round but not super heavy so I really think they’ll be perfect for layering over dresses all summer. I’m planning on bringing at least one with me when I head to Italy and England next month.
Hope you’ve all had a great week!
xo,
Nicole
