This outfit might be too busy for some people, but I love to play with patterns and thought this orange and gray zig zag skirt was a fun way to tie in the orange on my Loren Hope necklace. This outfit is a huge mix of everything since I have black and brown on as well as silver and gold jewelry — spice up your life, people!

This whole outfit is old but loved. The pink houndstooth dress (worn here as a blouse) is an old find that I picked up off the sale rack at H&M in Cincinnati before the store in Louisville opened (or they had online shopping — dark days, my friends), the black pants are a sale rack find and the necklace is a Charming Charlie clearance pick.
When I first bought this dress, I was super sad they didn’t have the more traditional black and white version in my size. While this definitely isn’t something I wear super regularly, I do love the sassy feel of the hot pink houndstooth. It’s a statement piece for sure.
Take a look at uninspired, day off, Sunday dressing. I think simple patterns (stripes, polka dots, gingham) help to keep you from having outfits that are too boring on days when you’re not sure what to wear. These pashminas go on sale every once in a while so I’ll snag a few, mostly because solids are my momma’s jam.
My shoes are linked above — if you happen to live near a Converse outlet, they usually run cheaper than listed online and tend to be on sale on weekends.
I’ve never loved the fit of this cardigan and should probably put it in the donate pile but am still avoiding doing so. I love the trimmed detail and paired it with this new navy lace blouse that my mom picked up at Costco because it made her think of me (awww!). I’ve been wearing my ampersand necklace nonstop it feels like, but I really love the daintiness and how it looks paired with a statement necklace.
This drusy wrap cuff is BAE. I’ve always suffered from small wrist syndrome — basically no bracelets I purchase fit me. They just slide all over and/or off. Kind of annoying. This one has two snaps so you can alter the size a bit and then I always wear it more on my arm than wrist. The mint and gold bracelet on the far right is a DIY of mine that I’m still in love with years later.
I snagged this dress last week when perusing H&M for a new maxi dress (sad to report I did not find one I loved) and was super pumped because it was marked down from $50 to $20. The side has vertical stripes while the front and back feature horizontal ones. Even better, there’s a cutout over the upper back/shoulder region and then an exposed zipper that runs all the way to the bottom of the dress. You definitely have to be a bit creative getting into this dress and I won’t lie — the full length zipper had me triple checking myself all day long at work. However, it’s super cute, the fabric does have some give to it and the mixture of stripes is very flattering. It does run a bit small, I sized up from my regular 4/Small to a 6 in this.
I wanted to keep this pretty simple and let the dress (and the wild zipper detail) speak for itself so I chose my good ole 3/4 sleeve navy blazer so that my arm party would be super visible and tossed on one of my favorite statement necklaces. I pulled on my blue flats to round out the navy and white look.
This shirt is one of my favorites even though it’s a tad too big now. I bought this shirt shortly after I started following fashion and style accounts on instagram after seeing it on Karla and Abby.
I really wasn’t 100 percent sure how I felt about this outfit, but went with it anyway because I had the day off and was mostly staying home. I got a lot of unwanted looks at Qdoba though so maybe the double denim was too much.
I snagged this denim vest last year from the girls’ section at Target; what I really like about it is the smaller size. Because it’s a kids size it looks cropped and I don’t feel like I have bulky flaps on the front that conceal my shirt.
I did not plan an outfit out the night before so my uninspired Friday brain grabbed the simplest things I could think of and threw them together for the first day of my work’s new dress code (all solids w. a company scarf).
Wishing you a happy Friday and Derby weekend 🙂
xo, Nicole
