Hi gang! Coming at you with a brand new post today all about the latest beauty products I’ve been trying out. This includes a new to me subscription box, BoxyCharm! I just received my July box last week so I haven’t truly had a chance to try out all of those products but wanted to review the June box and share my overall thoughts. I also have a few other new beauty products I’ve been testing to review so keep reading.

Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | What Is BoxyCharm?
BoxyCharm is a monthly beauty subscription box that includes 4-5 full size beauty items valued to be at least $100. The monthly box costs $21, although signing up for 3-12 month subscription will drop the cost a bit. Beauty subscription boxes definitely are not a new concept but this is the first one I’ve ever received. In the past, I’ve always worried that I wouldn’t love everything in a beauty box and that it would end up being cheaper to just directly purchase beauty products that I was interested in.
BoxyCharm was a subscription box I knew about through beauty YouTubers that I follow so I was pretty excited to receive my first box.
Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | The June Box
Each month’s box comes with a trifold card that includes the theme for the month, product information, and promo codes. The June box had a Carribean Queen theme and included six products that altogether retail for $134. What I appreciate is that BoxyCharm mixes things up by including independent and major beauty brands; this allows you to try out brands that you wouldn’t be able to purchase at Sephora or Ulta while also providing products from brands you know and love.

Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | June BoxyCharm Palette
The first item in the June box was the Alamar Cosmetics Reina Del Caribe palette. This eyeshadow palette features eight shades all inspired by the Caribbean. I really did love this item and am glad it was in the box; I wasn’t familiar with this newer beauty brand and probably wouldn’t have ever tried their products without being introduced through BoxyCharm. The palette has 4 glitter shades, 2 shimmers, and 2 mattes that make it easy to create both neutral and more bold eye makeup looks.

The shades are very pigmented and I liked that the palette calls out which shades can be used wet by including a water droplet symbol next to certain shade names. I’m wearing a more neutral look in these photos, but I did wear the blue shade a couple weeks ago and got a lot of compliments.
Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | Luxie Brushes
Next up is the Luxie Beauty 3 piece flawless complexion brush set {660, 522, 516}. These brushes feel wonderful but I honestly haven’t found myself reaching for them a ton; I do already have a decent amount of brushes and kind of fall into the trap of using the ones I love and am used to. I did try using this foundation brush for the new ColourPop foundation that I ordered and ended up reaching for my trusty kabuki brush afterwards. I just wasn’t very impressed with how it applied liquid foundation. In the past, I know BoxyCharm has included eye shadow brushes which is more of what I’d like to see.

Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | Battington Lashes
These lashes look so high drama and are beautiful. They are 100% silk and can be used up to 25 times when cared for properly. I’m a bit of a false lash newbie; I lucked out with pretty nice natural lashes and don’t wear falsies. After receiving these, I definitely was inspired to try them but have been testing my lash applying skills on some clearance lashes I snagged at Target to avoid ruining these nice, expensive ones. {Anyone else do this?}
Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | Waterproof Eyeliner & Liquid Lipstick
The Jonteblue waterproof eyeliner pencil isn’t something I’ve used; I typically use liquid liner on my top lid and just line my waterline. This liner feels a little rough and so I wouldn’t want to use it on my waterline. The Ofra Cosmetics liquid lipstick was a huge win for me. I’ve heard great things about Ofra’s products but hadn’t tried them. The shade they chose for the box {Verona} is a universally flattering color.

The lipstick has a great formula and isn’t matte but doesn’t have a sheen either. The shade appears pretty nude on my skintone and isn’t drying which is amazing!

The final item in the box was the Sol de Janerio Brazilian Bum Bum Cream in a travel size. YAY, cue all the happy emojis! I have the purse size of this cream and L O V E it. The cream absorbs into the skin so well, it’s easy to pack, and most of all the scent is AMAZING. Seriously, you will smell like a delicious goddess wearing this and everyone will ask what you’re wearing. And promo code alert, use BOXY2018 until July 15th to receive 20% off purchases of $50+ from Sol de Janerio.

Another thing I’ve been trying out is the ColourPop No Filter Foundation {$12}. I ordered two shades and the lighter one is my match at least for now. Here are my thoughts: this foundation is super runny. I typically put foundation on the back of my hand and then apply it to my fave with a brush or sponge. After pumping this one out, I realized that I would have to move quickly or I’d have a mess on my hands {literally}. I will say that I’ve long been looking for a drugstore priced foundation for my skin tone and this fits the bill, but with it being summer I really need a more matte finish foundation. {ColourPop says this foundation is matte, but like…let’s talk.} Closing thoughts: I’ll probably continue to mix this with my more matte foundations and give this a full whirl in fall when the humidity isn’t killing my vibe. As you can see in the photos, the coverage is pretty good — my freckles and dark spots aren’t visible although the texture in my skin is.

Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | July Box
The July box has a road trip theme and includes five products with a total value of $129. I just got this box last Friday so I’ve only tried out one item, but on looks alone am not as excited about this box as I was June.
Is BoxyCharm Worth the Hype? Plus New Product Thoughts | What’s In the Box?
This box tied in some skincare products with the beauty. Admittedly, this isn’t my thing; I kind of have my tried and true skincare products and don’t love going outside of them. While my skin isn’t sensitive, new products can lead to breakouts which I typically try to avoid as much as humanly possible.

- Dr. Brandt No More Baggage — This is an eye de-puffing gel that claims to reduce underage bags and dark circles. I’ve tried Dr. Brandt’s products through Influenster before and never have been blown away.
- Tarte Cosmetics Ready, Set, Radiant Mist — I’ve long used Tarte’s products, but have refrained from purchasing any more of their products following the hot mess that was their Shape Tape foundation release. This was the first skincare product that I’ve tried from them and I really like it. I haven’t used this with makeup but think I’ll continue to use this to refresh my skin on no makeup days. It’s refreshing, light, and not sticky.
- Wander Beauty Unlashed Volume and Curl Mascara — The wand on this is curled {yassss} so I’m excited to see if it gives my lashes a lift. The description does list this as a glossy black mascara so I’m interested in seeing what that looks like when applied.
- Note Cosmetics Compact Blush — I was very surprised when I opened up this blush since it almost looks orange in appearance. {You can see the swatch below!} Stay tuned, I’ll try and make sure to share more on this either in an IGTV episode or Stories.
- Chella Beauty Eyebrow Cream — The packaging on this product is so different than any eyebrow gel I’ve used before. Admittedly, I could not figure it out and had to google how to use it. The top pops off and shows a thick angled brush and the bottom pops off as well. You then dip the angled brush into the bottom to get the product onto the brush. BoxyCharm had said they were sending a universal color out but it’s a little dark even to me. {Again swatched below!}

Let me know in the comments; do you currently receive a beauty subscription box and if not would you ever consider signing up for one?

Do you get to personalize your box at all or does everyone get the exact same stuff? With other boxes I’ve tried I’ve been disappointed with colors that took terrible on me which was a turn off regardless of quality.

I’ve stayed away from subscription boxes, I’m too picky haha

Great post! I’ve been subscribed to Boxycharm for three months now and am currently waiting for my July box! I’ve really been impressed with the last two month’s box, but this month’s seems a little underwhelming.

I’m yet to get worth out of a subscription box but haven’t tried BoxyCharm. This particular box look so good though!

I haven’t tried this box before. The palette in the June box looks so fun!

Sounds like a great barging for makeup lovers!

I honestly had a Boxycharm subscription for about six months…but I felt like I was being wasteful. I NEVER used the products that came in them. Like, I tried them and always found something I liked. I just never actually used them! The value is unbelievable, though!

I used to be signed up for the boxycharm, but I found myself collecting alot of makeup items that I was never using so I thought it was a waste. There would be times that I found something I liked, but not enough.
