Anyone else in disbelief that we’re already halfway through January?! I’m all about it if it means the snow will be gone soon, though. I’m rounding up Instagram today; hopefully you already follow me but if not here’s where you need to go 😉
IG Roundup
So many goodies in this outfit! This shirt is a new purchase for fall and comes in three different colors as well as a shirt-dress version. My affinity for Old Navy is nothing new here, but I love that things are always marked down and there’s always a coupon out. My Nikes are also on sale; these are my favorite sneakers that I own. The shoe is really designed around keeping the foot comfortable. While I use these now predominantly at the gym, they also served as my walking shoes when I vacationed in Europe earlier this year, and are the largest reason I was able to walk around for miles and miles. They’re available in a large variety of colors of neon orange isn’t really your thing.
My Michael Kors anorak jacket was a Nordstrom Rack find while I was visiting Chicago; this version has lots of fun details including a detachable hood (#yasssss), black zippers, and an adjustable waist. If you’re like me, you hate coats/jackets because you turn into a marshmallow. My waist is what makes my pear shaped figure a little balanced, so if I can’t show off that there’s an area on my body that isn’t round — I’m not into the clothing option. Having a waist that cinches is key for me. I’d been wanting a coat this color for awhile so I’m excited to get to wear it more this fall, although the olive, navy and burnt orange options are beautiful too.
Looking forward to wearing this outfit at a cooler date! I love the hot pink houndstooth because it puts a fun spin on a classic print and the leather jacket gives an edgy vibe to the look.
I mentioned this in the blog post this outfit appeared in, but I’m super impressed with the material of this top. It’s a little more than I’d usually spend on an Old Navy button down, but the thicker fabric is worth it to me — It’s going to be a great piece for layering under sweaters once it gets cooler.
This red plaid is one of my favorites that keeps getting worn all fall and winter long. I love how versatile it is because it seems like I keep finding items it complements in my closet. This sweater cardigan is a longer length, which was why I bought it. Most of my cardigans are “shirt length” and hit below the waist but above my hip bones. I like that this one goes down to upper mid thigh making it the perfect length to wear with leggings. The tan color pairs perfectly with this tartan plaid. It’s TTS, although the sleeves seem a bit longer than normal.
Okay, let me start by saying: these HM cardigans are my favorite and are available in new fall colors. Go, go, go! I’ve been trying to be good lately, so I’ve held out but the dark green, burgundy, black and dark blue are all pieces that I could manage to justify adding to my closet. I’m a HUGE cardigan fan, because layering is really how I manage to get through winter and I love these cardigans as well as the price point ($14.99). For reference, I’ve found that they run small and always size up to a small (versus my usual XS at retailers like Target and Old Navy.)
This bow bracelet is my first Katie Bowhead piece, I’ve followed Kaitlin’s personal account on Instagram for forever and love that she loves all things colorful and sparkly. I’ve linked one of her upcoming pieces above — seriously how gorgeous is that glitter bow — and I love these coozies she has in her shop as well, perfect for gameday!
This quilted sweatshirt top is a little oversized, perfectly comfy and also comes in black. The material is nice and thick, but still breathable. I wasn’t sure how much I’d like this when I ordered it online, but I certainly see it being a piece I’m able to remix several ways. I like the fall update on the classic white tee.
This dress was a little too big in the chest to start with begin with and as I’v started working on building upper arm strength over the past couple months has gotten even bigger. But, this seemed like the perfect way to wear purple for World Alzheimer’s Day and after I belted the dress and added a big statement necklace.
This Classic Cobb with the homemade blue cheese dressing was so yummy. The coolest thing about Chop Shop is the huge knives they bring out to chop your choices up before they mix in the dressing. This was my first time I’d visited one of their locations and I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a lunch spot in Louisville.
I couldn’t resist throwing on this classic fall look the other morning when I was running errands and it was still cool out. No apologies for the fact that this black druzy Kendra Scott necklace is going to be on repeat for the next year. I didn’t think I could possibly like it better than my silver one and here we are and I’m wearing it every single day.
I try to stay away from all black because I view it as an emergency look. Stuck on what to wear? All black. Not sure how dressed up your friends will be when you go out? All black. Being sick technically counts as an emergency so when I had to run into work and was running a fever, I grabbed a handful of black pieces and then threw my keys and some cough drops into my marble print clutch. Easy peasy & it looks like more effort went into the look.
Did you catch this classic look last week? Check it out here (:
The detailing on this skirt immediately caught my eye when I first saw it at Francesca’s and I’ve gotten a lot of wear out of it this summer and early fall. I do wish the quality were a little better; I hate pieces that don’t wash + dry well or easily. This one can make it through the washer when I put it in a delicates bag, but has to be line dried.
This turquoise cuff didn’t match the color scheme of this outfit, but I love the way the turquoise really popped against this blanket scarf. I’ve linked a similar style above.
I’ve been loving all of my Devon Maryn gear and finally got a chance to wear these navy striped pants. If you’re thinking about buying a pair, the sizing guide is really helpful. I’ve sized down from the medium I usually take in Old Navy and Forever21 activewear and am wearing the small.
If you lift and don’t have lifting gloves — get some! When I first started regularly going to the gym, I figured out that I like lifting better than cardio and was seeing quicker results in terms of building muscle, but hated that my hands were getting rough. I got these fingerless gloves at Dick’s and they protect my palms from getting calloused.
This is one of the outfits I posted on Instagram when I still hadn’t figured out how to use the platform in the most effective way. It’s definitely a look I’m excited to recreate once sweater weather gets here.
It seems like the only days I can quickly throw together an outfit are the days when I don’t have to be somewhere by a certain time. I went with one of my favorite fall outfit algebra equations: stripes + layers + jeans, but altered it a little since I know it’d heat up in the afternoon. This outfit will be on the blog sometime next week.
This nail polish is the only new fall shade I’ve bought so far and I’m absolutely obsessed! I swear by OPI polishes because I love the brushes and formula, but this one has been on frequent repeat since I bought it.
So…this blanket scarf was an awesome eBay find last fall, but sadly isn’t available anymore. I have linked a cobalt plaid option that I’ve been eyeing from Adorabelles that would is my favorite shade of blue. This sweater is so comfy and light and currently on major sale.

Time for a Instagram roundup!
Marble print has grown so much on me and now I’m having trouble resisting all the fun pieces popping up everywhere. These fun jewelry pieces are all to die for.
Shopping for gym clothes is so much more fun than going to the gym but what’s new. I pretty much only wear graphic tees and tanks right now with my cropped leggings. Here’s some of my fave, fun gym tanks: one (under $11), two, three, four and five.
I am loving t-shirt dresses right now. There’s something so wonderful about looking putting together but feeling super comfortable. I have an affinity for stripes and so does everyone else because the striped shirt dress options keep coming this year. There’s also lots of solid options out there if you’re planning on wearing it with a fun scarf and want to keep the base palette a little more neutral.
Did you see the fun plaid scarf I linked above this? I’m SO excited that plaid season is here/I’m kind of forcing it. #ItsFine
One of the things I love about this shirt is the combination of polka dots and plaid; I know we started seeing that trend of a different pattern on the cuffs and collars last season and I’m eyeing this plaid shirt with chambray collars and cuffs. I also love this fun plaid tote, especially because it has a cross body strap, but it seems a little more fall than I’m ready to commit to.
My love for marble knows no bounds; how cute is this Kendra Scott necklace? Love this one too for those days you need a statement necklace.
The OPI Venice collection has so many shades that I love but so far I’ve only bought this one. Gelato on my Mind and A Great Opera-tunity are calling my name. One of my exciting moments this week was this photo being shared on Francesca’s instagram account.
Okay so like I said earlier, cropped leggings have been my jam. Pairs with mesh paneling feel sassy and right for the gym. Check out these, these gray ones, this pair and these. I like the thickness of the F21 active pants and find them TTS (I’m wearing a medium).
Old Navy has been killing it lately. I first saw this bag in store, but knew it would eventually go on sale or have an online coupon that could be used. They’ve been running lots of promos which makes it a great time to stock up. I love this reversible tote, this pair of D’Orsay flats and I really need to go try on this scallop top because I’m not sure how boxy it is.
Hobby Lobby also had the navy and white striped fabric to make another J. Crew inspired look for less. Thinking about cruising the streets of Louisville this weekend to see if I can find some olive green quilted vest material.
It’s been a really good week and one of the things that resonated with me the most was this post “4 Lessons I Learned After Dumping My Ex-BFF.” My friend Michelle sent it to me earlier this week and then Mionna tweeted it last night. Ending friendships is such a hard thing for me because of how much I analyze everything. Even after things are said and done, I still question myself and my choices. It’s always refreshing to see other people going through the same things and reinforcing my decisions.
It’s also been great reconnecting with some old friends this year (:
Last thing, I’m co-hosting a style challenge on Instagram that runs all of September; if you’re struggling with what to wear, if you love fun prizes and giveaways or if you just want to keep up, I’d love for you to join!
