IG Roundup

February 29, 2016

It’s the last day of February so it’s only right that we recap the second half of the month as seen on Instagram. {Also, I was a horrible blogger and did nothing blog related this weekend which pretty much never happens. It was nice to take a break and be busy with life but I think if anything it showed me how “into” blogging I am.}

Stripe Out

February 24, 2016

It’s really been feeling like one of those weeks over in Nicole-land. I’m not sure what day it is, I constantly think I’m forgetting something, I can’t stay on top of my email inbox…. A hot mess basically.

What Nicole Wore: Stripe Out
shop the post: striped and layered sweater {on sale for $17! | also seen here} + white skinny jeans {also seen here} + leopard print loafers {old, similar | also seen here} + marble print leather clutch {linked in solid | also seen here} + statement necklace {also seen here} + nail polish + eye shadow + foundation c/o influenster {blended with this} + bronzer + blush + mascara + lips + eyebrows + eyeliner {on top lid} + eyeliner {turquoise along waterline}
I was all ready to start this post by sharing that this top is sold out, but then found that it’s been restocked in a few sizes and colors and it’s still on sale for $16.90 – Hooray! As you’ll see, this sweater features faux layers with the sweater part being cropped and then a fun chiffon layer underneath. The sweater portion has a super cute button detailing down the back. It is true to size {I’m wearing my normal XS}, super comfy and warmer than I thought it would be; this is going to be an awesome piece to wear during the transition to spring and I love this fun shade of purple.

{PS. Here’s the fun lace layered blouse I was going to link before I realized this top is back in stock! Super cute, tunic length and under $25!}
What Nicole Wore: Stripe Out

Pairing bold color with white jeans has been a major go to for me lately. I’m so tired of muted colors and just want to wear all the brights I can get my hands on.

My leopard loafers add just the right pop of pattern to the bottom half of this look; I love how fun they are and the pattern mixing isn’t too busy either.  Fun, patterned shoes are a great way to contribute to a print mix if you’re nervous about doing too much.

Olive You Always

February 22, 2016

Cheers to a new week! I enjoyed one too many Pina Coladas while out at dinner this weekend {oops}, but luckily was able to pull myself together Sunday morning. I also slammed my hand in the door Saturday morning, which led to me indulging in said Pina Coladas.

What Nicole Wore: Olive You Always
shop the post: olive tunic c/o shein {under $15} + white cami {similar} + ny and company black cropped pants {similar} + black scalloped flats {similar here also} + black druzy necklace + fieldcrest wood watch c/o jord wood watches + nail polish + maybelline fit me foundation {in coconut} c/o influenster {I blended it with this foundation to get a closer match to my skin tone} + bronzer {to contour} + blush + eye shadow + eyebrow filler + mascara + liquid eyeliner + blue eyeliner {on waterline only}
Influenster sent me one of the new shades of Maybelline’s Fit Me Foundation in matte; I’m a bit of a snob when it comes to face makeup due to the fact that it’s always super hard for me to find a match. This one is too dark and a little more orange than I liked, but I was able to blend it with the liquid foundation I’ve been using and have it look a bit more natural. The formula was very runny which I’m not a fan of, but I think if I were to continue experimenting with the new shades, I could probably find a closer match. This foundation did last me over twelve hours and stayed matte.

What Nicole Wore: Olive You Always

Okay, let’s talk about this tunic; it’s $14, the perfect shade of olive green, lightweight and slightly longer in the back. The neckline is flattering and has a little dip without going too low. I like the look {and calmed nerves} of having a cami underneath, but you could go without too. I paired my tunic with my black work pants {I swear by the NY & Co clearance racks}, but I can’t wait to wear it with my white jeans or some distressed blue jeans for a more casual look.  What Nicole Wore: Olive You Always

I also wore my Fieldcrest watch to add onto the classic color vibes. I love the light wood and how feminine it looks while also maintaining the ability to go with just about anything in my closet.  My watch came already sized which is a major plus in my book since I have baby wrists that tend to be way too small for lots of watches.

Chambray My Way

February 19, 2016

I was scrolling through Pinterest when I saw a fun white jeans and white stripes outfit that inspired this outfit; I did make mistake of not completely thinking this through and wore this on a day I had lasagna for lunch, but I’m happy to report that there were no accidents and my jeans are still white. {Talk about #winning}

What Nicole Wore: Chambray My Way
shop the post: striped long sleeve tee {similar | also seen here} + polka dot chambray shirt {old, similar | also seen here} + white skinny jeans {also seen here} + leopard print loafers {old, similar | also seen here} + mint bib necklace {old, linked in red} + watch + tote {thrift find | also seen here} + blush + foundation + bronzer + setting spray + eyeshadow + mascara + nail polish
I went on a major closet cleaning kick last weekend: I pulled every single clothing item out of my closet and then went through, decided if I really needed/wanted to keep it and then put back the items I did want to keep. I currently have a huge pile of donate/sell/Goodwill on my floor, but I’m happy to have cut out some of the items that needed to go. I honestly love this idea of “giving up” forty items of clothing for the forty days of Lent, but knew I’d be horrible about keeping track as the days went by.  For me, a one time big purge was the effective way to hold myself accountable.
What Nicole Wore: Chambray My Way

All white seemed a little “bleh” at first so I decided to go with a casual vibe by tying my chambray shirt around my waist. I love that this one has pin dots to add a fun print mix to the outfit.  What Nicole Wore: Chambray My Way

I love how bright white is and have been trying to steer away from dark colors lately; brights make me happy and I feel like I’ve constantly needed to remind myself that spring is coming {one day}. I opted for colorful accessories with my mint bib necklace and Longchamp tote, and of course this week’s mani is one of the fun new colors from OPI’s new spring/summer collection.

My leopard loafers were the natural choice for this; I love how the pattern really stands out when worn with white jeans and it was the right print to add some character without being too crazy.

Double Hooded

February 17, 2016

Currently listening to: Travis Garland’s cover of Love Yourself from the latest Bieber album. Seriously swoon worthy!  What are some of your favorite cover artists?

What Nicole Wore: Double Hooded
shop the post: yellow beanie c/o modern and chic {also seen here} + striped sweatshirt c/o shein + blue skinny jeans + hunter boots {sized down to a 7} + stella and dot gold ring {also seen here} + nail polish + foundation + eyebrow filler + mascara + red lip {I filled in my lips with a nude liner to get a little extra staying power & keep the color from “running”} + blush
Serious confession time — I’ve been pretty much living in this sweatshirt since I got it last week. My friend Savannah actually called me out about it when we went out for drinks over the weekend which means that I’ve probably been overwearing it, oops.  I feel pretty sorry not sorry about the whole thing because it’s just SO easy to throw on. Example: when my friends called me to see if I wanted to grab drinks, I was definitely still wearing lazy clothes. I threw on this outfit (sans beanie) with my go to red lip (only $6) and went from looking like a bum to a put together person.
What Nicole Wore: Double Hooded

Aside from being super comfy, I love that I don’t look like a huge slob in it like I do in most of my favorite comfs. While I love being dressed up, if you came to my house I’m almost always in sweatpants/leggings and a sweatshirt so finding a sweatshirt that is socially acceptable to wear outside of my house, to work and out to dinner and drinks is a huge win for me. At $18 with free shipping, it’s a total steal. I sized up to a small and find the fit comfortable, but if you want to wear this over anything bulkier than a tank top, I’d suggest going up two sizes.

SheIn has some really great comfy but cute pieces out right now that I’m crushing on all for under $20:

The double hooded and zipper detailing is super cute, it does come with strings to tighten (or loosen) the hood, but keeping them even drives me crazy so I just pulled mine out.  It also looks super cute with leggings!
