Two weeks ago, I headed to Lexington for the Justin Timberlake concert. It was actually my first time seeing him and 100% lived up to the hype. Lately, I’ve been feeling like I need to work on getting more going out type clothes, but I managed to throw together an outfit with pieces already in my closet.

Can’t Stop the Feeling: What to Wear to a Concert | Stock Up on Signature Basics
It’s still pretty warm in Kentucky, so I quickly gave up on my original idea of wearing my faux leather leggings. While they would be great for the pumpkin patch, I would’ve melted if I tried wearing them to Rupp Arena. One thing I’ve been actively working on the past couple months is upping the number of “dressy basics” in my closet.

Think beyond the easy white tee and opt instead for the white blouse that can work for dressy or casual. I ordered this solid cami in a couple different colors during the summer months with the thought that I could wear them alone while it was warm and under cardigans and jackets for fall.
Can’t Stop the Feeling: What to Wear to a Concert | Crossbody Bags are a Must
Lately, I’ve found myself carrying this cognac, faux leather crossbody purse a ton. The size allows me to carry my essentials and I love the tassel detail on the front. Anytime I’m going to a concert or event, I try to bring a smaller size crossbody bag; it keeps me from bringing too much and having a heavy purse. For the concert, I threw in my mobile phone charger, cash, cards, my keys, and lipstick!

You may have noticed, but this look was all solids; I broke out a black, bodycon mini skirt from Express. I thrifted this at least five years ago and while I don’t break it out all the time, it’s a great piece for when I go out. I especially love that the skirt is a thicker material, I feel like all bodycon pieces should be made this way.
Can’t Stop the Feeling: What to Wear to a Concert | Throw On Some Fun Earrings
Fully committed to the red and black theme {it’s still #CatsBy90 around these parts, don’t worry!}, I pulled out these gold and red statement earrings. I love the Baublebar for Target line because 1. it’s affordable and 2. the pieces are super lightweight. I actually own this exact pair in hot pink and red so trust me when I say they’re great to throw on to dress up a basic outfit.

Can’t Stop the Feeling: What to Wear to a Concert | Comfy Shoes
Finally, the absolute must for any concert outfit is comfortable shoes. I pulled out this Nina Wedge from Bearpaw. What I love about my Bearpaw shoes is the soles; they’re super comfortable and provide the right amount of cushion for your foot. Typically, I’d never even dream about putting any kind of heel or wedge on for a concert, but these were comfortable enough for the Nelly concert so I thought I’d put them to the test again.
