Anyone else struggle with what to wear to events during this time of year? You want to look nice but you don’t want to drown in your own sweat, ya know? A few weeks back, I went to a preview of the new ON3 Bar opened at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience here in Louisville. I wanted to show off how to wear a midi skirt, because this outfit was JUST what I needed for the event and the perfect mix of casual chic.

How to Wear a Midi Skirt & Evan Williams’ New Bar | The Key to a Midi Skirt
This exact midi skirt is a pleated number from Francesca’s. Personally, I lean towards bringing in a fun texture when I get midis. Go for something that can both make a statement and be easy to style with pieces already in your closet. While this skirt features rose quartz and a soft blue, it’s easy to rock with a pretty variety of blouses. I’ve dressed it down with a knotted tank, dressed it up with a cold shoulder top that’s perfect for a night on the town, and gone classic like I did here.

How to Wear a Midi Skirt & Evan Williams’ New Bar | ON3 Bar
Last month, I got to check out the new bar at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. This bar, which is on the third floor and aptly named ON3, serves all kinds of bourbon cocktails and has a nice open lounge feel. Karla Green is the mixologist behind the bar and was able to concoct a bourbon cocktail that even a non-bourbon drinker like me enjoyed!

That was where I first wore this outfit, I wanted something pretty but not too over the top. I love to freshen up a summer outfit by incorporating white like my tank and bag!

I was very nervous about attending this event because as I mentioned: not a bourbon drinker. {This is practically a sin in Kentucky so I will point out that I’m not a native.} I’ve done a couple bourbon tastings before but the spirit just isn’t my cup of tea. {Or whiskey.} The Evan Williams tasting process takes you through two stories of the historic building; it has a dark and mysterious vibe without being scary. At each section, you’ll learn more about the age you’re tasting.

How to Wear a Midi Skirt & Evan Williams’ New Bar | Why It Works
I wasn’t sure what to wear for this event at all and kept going through my closet hoping something would hop out of me. When my hands landed on this colorblock, pleated midi skirt, it hit me to throw on a white blouse with this flowy skirt and call it a day. I got SO many compliments and when I bumped into Heather, she asked if I had posted this look on the blog! {Thanks for the push, Heather!} I love that the colorblock features three colors and that the blush pink is so soft. While this skirt is definitely perfect for spring, I don’t feel afraid of breaking it out in the summer either.

How to Wear a Midi Skirt & Evan Williams’ New Bar | Accessorize It!
Because of the two pastel hues in the skirt, it’s easy to accessorize this look. I pulled out a blush statement necklace from the Baublebar for Target line; I also have this in mint and love the style because it goes with so much. I went all in on my Sugarfix pieces and also pulled out these blue tassel earrings. While they’re not a perfect match for the soft blue in the skirt, but it was far enough away from the hem of the skirt that I went with it.

Of course, my go to sunglasses are my Karen Walker’s. They go with everything and the shape is so flattering. Usually, I’m pretty predictable with my lipsticks but this new color from Ofra Cosmetics that was in my June BoxyCharm box is my current go-to nude. I love that it’s a pinky-brown nude but not totally matte; the formula is very comfortable to wear and doesn’t slip off right away.
