It’s back! One of my favorite Christmas traditions is putting up my food themed Christmas tree. I started collecting food ornaments about 5-6 years ago but my collection has really expanded over the last 2 years. Today I’m showing off some of the newest food ornaments plus a look at this year’s tree.

A Full Look at the Food Themed Christmas Tree
Last year, I used my 6.5 ft pre lit Christmas tree and I stuck with it again this year. As you can see, the tree has gotten pretty full so I’m planning to keep my eyes open for post-Christmas sales on a larger tree for next year. My food ornament collection surpassed 150 ornaments this year (!!) and finding places for the ornaments got a bit tricky towards the end of decorating. There’s a handful of ornaments that I skipped hanging this year due to being duplicates so hopefully next year even with a bigger tree, we can replicate the full look.
This Year’s New Additions to My Food Themed Christmas Tree
Every year I add some new food Christmas ornaments to my collection. Here’s a rundown of where I shopped this year:
- Michaels Stores
- Gilt — I had good luck finding marked down Cody Foster ornaments here!
- JOANN Stores
- Red Barn Mercantile — this store is local to me and has a great collection of various themed Christmas trees
- Target
- Cracker Barrel
- World Market
Most of my friends and family know that I collect food ornaments and are kind enough to surprise me with a few each year. (Is there anything better than getting a “this made me think of you” gift?)
New (to me) Spots for Food Christmas Ornaments
Joann having food ornaments wasn’t super shocking to me, but I was surprised by the variety they had! This sheet cake ornament looks a lot like a much more expensive Cody Foster ornament that I saved on Pinterest last year.
On the other hand, an Instagram follower messaged me and suggested that I check out Cracker Barrel which I wouldn’t have thought to shop at on my own. The ornaments are fairly priced — typically under $10! and they have a lot of officially licensed ornaments, like the Swiss Miss hot chocolate one below!
Other Themed Christmas Trees I’d Consider
Creating and collecting all the ornaments for this theme tree has been a lot of fun for me and naturally I’ve thought about other themed Christmas trees I might enjoy. My parents collect an ornament from every destination they travel together for a travel themed tree which I love! I’ve also considered doing an animal or dog themed tree.
If I were to put up a second tree next year, I’d probably do it without a theme so I could put up random ornaments to my heart’s content. If I were to ever move into a bigger space, I could see starting another theme tree…and maybe making the food tree even larger.
Food Ornaments I’m Keeping An Eye On Post-Christmas
If you have a themed Christmas tree or if you like pricier ornaments, I recommend looking after Christmas for sales. Here’s a couple of ornaments, I’m hoping to score marked down:
Hope you’ve enjoyed this tree tour and happy decorating!
