Gotta get down on Friday! Happy Oaks Day to all my Kentucky friends and happy Friday to all my non Kentucky friends. Looking through all of my past Derby photos has really been a reminder of how over the top this week is and how much I absolutely love it.

ONE | It’s Derby Weekend!
I went back and forth about how much Derby content I wanted to create this year. In the end, I was fortunate to be apart of a partnership with Kentucky Derby, which is wild to think about when I’ve spent the past six years blogging about the event each spring. This is hands down one of my personal favorite content verticals and so I’m already brainstorming about next year. Part of me felt worried that people wouldn’t be interested in Derby content from me now that I live outside the state but…this is really where I shine in my opinion.

TWO | Reading
I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately to be completely honest, but I ordered Get Good with Money: Ten Simple Steps to Becoming Financially Whole because I really enjoy Tiffany’s podcast, Brown Ambition. There’s a small stack of books on my nightstand that I’ve paused midway through that I’d love to work on finishing in May.
THREE | Writing
I’m just realizing that I don’t think I’ve talked about it much here, but I launched a newsletter at the beginning of this year called Not to Be Dramatic. While most bloggers strategically plan their newsletter to be around their content, shopping tips, etc. this is a weekly roundup of the most ridiculous things I see on dating apps and as it turns out, a great way to get people to stop asking me why I’m single.

While I enjoy writing content for my blog and Instagram captions, the newsletter has been the most fun format to write for and something I’ve had a lot of fun putting together for every Friday.
FOUR | Shopping + Eyeing
While it feels like I haven’t been wearing statement earrings as much lately due to mask wearing, I did add these gold Kendra Scott earrings to my collection recently and I love that they go with just about everything. Today through Sunday, you can save 20% off site wide with guaranteed ground delivery by Mother’s Day — rounded up some favorites earlier this week in this post.

The most traveling I did in the past year was from Louisville to Washington DC when I moved, but I’m going on my first real trip in May which feels so weird! I’ve been eyeing these pink leopard packing cubes for my weekend trip as a practical item. My non-practical item, because I have enough clothing, would be this avocado pajama set or these new floral pants from J. Crew Factory. Back in the fall, I ordered this style in leopard and have loved them; they have an elastic waist in the back which makes them a lot more comfortable than other work pants.
FIVE | Weekend Plans
Most weekends, I tend to sleep in and be a blob (it sparks joy), but last Saturday I woke up early to shoot some pictures and then drove into Old Town Alexandria for a walk. While I dropped the ball by not thinking to bring my headphones, I still really enjoyed getting some steps in and checking out all the spring blooms. Paid for it a bit with my allergies the next day, but still thinking I may do something similar this weekend. On the drive in, I stopped by Dunkin and picked up one of their Iced Matcha Blueberry Lattes and *chefs kiss* I’d recommend it.

Tonight, I’m attending a virtual Derby Eve party, Silks Bash. Tickets are still available if you’re looking for something fun to do with your Friday night. And because it’s Derby weekend…it’s time for me to pick up some tomato plants this weekend! Very excited for my tomato children already.
