Friday Favorites: Life Lately in Louisville

It’s Friday which means it’s time to share some Friday favorites from the past two weeks!  Today I’m sharing favorite reads, my favorite weekend sales {not just the NSale!}, and what you may have missed this week on WNW.

Life Lately | Five Random Favorites:

  • Quick Lexington Visit.  I drove out to Lexington Wednesday afternoon, dropped my car at Tif‘s house and then we hit up Lexington Burger Week and the Draper James event.  I ordered the MVP Burger from Burger Fi with no fries or jalapeños and it was delicious!  After we ate, we headed over to Draper James at the Summit at Fritz Farm for a meet and greet with the cast of Legally Blonde which is showing at the Lexington Theatre next week.  {PS. Louisville Burger Week starts soon!}
  • Instagram Live.  I loathe live video because you can’t take it back if you look like an idiot, but there’s something about power in numbers so I put on my big girl pants and went live while Tif and I were at Draper James.  It was a touch awkward but mostly a lot of fun and the response was good.  While Instagram Live isn’t something I plan to do regularly, I’m less afraid of it haha.  I did forget to save it to my phone so I could share it here so it looks like I’ll have to do another one at some point.
  • Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Reaction.  I’ve been blogging for almost 2 1/2 years and sharing my style on Instagram even longer.  It never fails to make me smile to see the polarizing reactions to the NSale.  Everyone is either BUY, BUY, BUY or HATE, HATE, HATE.  I try to keep my posts at a minimum so that I don’t drive either side insane.  {PS. Keep reading for my favorite under $25 items!}  I don’t have a Nordstrom Card so I’m waiting for public access.
  • Meeting Megan from Being Mrs. Fowler.  I’ve followed Megan on Instagram for about 3-4 years now so I was excited when she messaged me sharing that she wanted to drive up to Louisville from Bowling Green where she was visiting family.  We went to lunch, stopped by Colokial and Work the Metal, and then I took her on a quick mural tour.  I always get nervous meeting blogging and Instagram friends, but we had a blast.
  • Night Class. I’m taking my first night class EVER this quarter and it’s actually super laid back.  It’s a conflict management class so I’m hoping to pick up some skills that help me in my personal life, when it comes to collaboration negotiations for the blog, and also that help me become a better sorority advisor.

Life Lately | Favorite Reads:

  • Lauren’s recipe for Strawberry Rosé Ombre Cake | Oh. My. Lanta. I’m not big on heavy frosting — whipped cream frosting is my fave — so this sounds heavenly.
  • ‘There is room for everyone.‘  Ruthie discusses over saturation in blogging and why bloggers shouldn’t be discouraged by it.  After 2 1/2 years of sharing my life here on WNW {and even longer since my original blogging debut}, I can one hundred percent vouch that worrying about what everyone’s doing isn’t the key to success.
  • Sheila’s post, ‘Why Bloggers Should Create Community Not Competition.’   Can I be real?  I totally thought people would just read my blog when I started it.  Not the case — at all.  {Well except my mom probably — hi Mom! Thanks for being my number one fan.}  Quite honestly, I think I’ve hit my stride in the past six months in terms of blogging.  With the constant changes to Instagram’s algorithm, I’ve tried to invest more of my time on other social platforms and directly into What Nicole Wore.  While it was nerve-racking in the beginning, I’ve formed some really great connections with bloggers!  Finding a blogging community has allowed my page views to grow and helped me grow on other social networks too.

Life Lately | Favorite Sales

  • LOFT has 40% off full price {excludes Lou & Grey} with 50% off tees, shorts and pants. Lord knows I love some LOFT new arrivals so I’m hoping to swing by my store this weekend to do a try on.  This skirt is at the top my list.
  • Baublebar is running their Summer Sale event.
  • Nordstrom just started early access for their 2017 Anniversary Sale.  I usually don’t do any major shopping during this sale because it is still hot AF in Kentucky and the thought of buying fall clothing stresses me out.  This year, there are some good wear now pieces and a few under $25 items I want — specifically the champagne gummy bears.  The collage above rounds up a handful of my favorite pieces under $25, just click an item to shop it!
  • Ann Taylor has 60% off sale pieces and 40% off full-price shorts and pants.
  • Hautelook and Nordstrom Rack have a 2 day Frye Flash Event!

    first of all, that burger looks amazing! and second of all… i completely agree about instagram stories!! i thought it would be nothing but then all of a sudden i was like ” wait.. what do i do with my hands?!”
