Can I make a confession? Okay great. I don’t always take my physical health as seriously as I should. Being more mindful of my body, how I feel, and taking care of myself are all things on my goals for this year. One thing in particular that’s important to me is my heart health. High blood pressure and high cholesterol both run in my family. I want to be able to enjoy my life but also live a long life too.

Making Heart Health a Priority with Gordmans | Why I’m Making Heart Health a Priority
Within my family history, I have a lot of the contributing factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity. Knowing this, its personally important to me to stay active. While I’m by no means perfect, I try to make sure that I’m physically challenging my body three to four times a week. I purposefully switch up my routine so that my body doesn’t get complacent. Cardio has never been my favorite activity but I make sure to utilize some of the cardio heavy machines at my gym to warm up — even on lifting days!

And of course, one of the major keys to a great workout routine is stretching! Since I do a lot of lifting to build muscle, stretching is important both before and after. Most importantly for me, I mentally feel my healthiest when I take the time to work out regularly.
