Getting a new set of jewelry is always exciting especially when it includes some fun new Kendra Scott pieces! I’ve been eyeing this necklace for weeks now and am going to cross my fingers that it comes in one of my upcoming Rocksbox packages before I pull the trigger.
I’ve always loved black and white but I feel like my love for the classic pairing has gone over the top recently. I’m not mad about it, and hope you guys aren’t either.
This was the first look I shot specifically for the blog and is still one of my favorite shoots. If you missed the original post, you can check it out here.
Getting back into my groove at the gym is one of my big goals for August since I quite literally fell off the wagon in July. I always love fresh new gym gear and am loving these gloves that my parents bought me as an early birthday present. I hate how rough my hands can get after I hit the weights a couple days a week so these have been a good way to protect them when I’m doing overhead lifts or squats on the Smith machine.
These sneakers were an impulse buy a few months ago but I couldn’t be happier with them. They’re a lot more structured than my Nike Free Runs which I like when I’m doing lifting at the gym.
I love this look from one of last week’s posts; the olive looks so great against white jeans and I was able to tie in some summer colors with the blue tank and turquoise necklace.
While this camera isn’t something I probably would have purchased for myself (I really like the idea of the smartphone printer Fujifilm is selling), I’ve had so much fun with this. I found these Kate Spade photo props at my local TJ Maxx a few months back and immediately snapped them up. I had no idea when I’d actually get around to using them but figured eventually they would be nifty and fun for something.
I’m glad pattern mixing is a thing for a few reasons:
- When I go shopping for clothes, I typically sit in the dressing room with the item after trying it on and imagine three items already in my closet that I can pair it with. Before pattern mixing I had to keep a balance of solid pieces (which are obviously versatile but at times a snoozefest — don’t fight me on it, you won’t convince me otherwise.)
- Getting dressed at the last minute no longer requires matching (:
- Everything about patterns and prints is SO much more fun to me! And pattern mixing isn’t just different patterns – it’s playing with layers and adding different textures to an outfit.
Brunch > everything else. I tried ZEGGZ about a month ago with my friend Lindsey and was so in love with this skillet cinnamon roll that I took my brother here for breakfast on his birthday. The vanilla bourbon glaze is perfection and a side of bacon really helps you appreciate the sweetness.
This purse is an old, under $4 clearance find and has gone to Europe and back and it still kicking; I’ve linked a similar purse above that’s a little bit bigger. My only complaint against this bag is that I can’t fit a full sized wallet into it.
While Hunters are super popular and chic, I can’t quite justify spending that much on rain boots. They’re not something I’ll wear for more than a couple minutes (out to the car, into work and then switch back into dry weather shoes, back out to the car, into the house). I wanted a fun color though and had thrown away my old pair of rain boots so I bought this pair from Target. They come in a few different colors, I’m wearing the fuchsia, but I love the mint and coral! They are not sold in stores, but can be purchased online and qualify for free shipping.
Goodwill is really good for hooking me up with this shirt. Button downs are my life, I love that they are dressier than a tee shirt but just as comfy.
I talked all about my fall favorites last week: vests, scarves and cardigans. You can catch the post here, if you missed it!
These sneakers are SO comfortable and make me want to make sporty chic my new aesthetic just because I hate when my feet feel achy. I (unfortunately) work in a retail center that also has a Nike Factory right around the corner and spend way too much time sneaking over to peek at what designs and colors they have. Currently OBSESSED with these fun pattern mixing sneaks after seeing someone wear them at my gym, although I do love a good blue pair too.
I always love reading other people’s thoughts and tips for Instagram and loved Fran’s post on it this week. Fran’s blog is one I’ve been following for years now; I think she blogs with integrity and has resisted the urge to sell out on various occasions, something I really respect. She hits on some key points but my favorite takeaways:
- Don’t overedit. I’ll never forget a nameless soul at the IG meetup I attended in June admitting that she uses an app to “skinny” herself in pictures. Yes, take your best angle. Yes, edit your photo so that one zit on your face isn’t as obvious. But don’t edit to the point that someone wouldn’t recognize you if they saw you in person.
- Do stay engaged. If someone is going to take the time to comment on one of my photos whether it be asking me a question, complimenting me or just being kind, I want to make sure to take the time to respond to them. And do so politely!
Be sure to check out the post for more insight!
Any excuse to break out the sequins, you know? This look was featured on the blog this week and this sequin shirt is on sale right now!
I eyed these sneakers SO hard a few weeks ago, but decided I was going to be responsible and not spend money on another pair on sneakers. I had showed my mom a picture of them though, so the sneaky little thing went and bought them as a birthday present for me. I love the mixture of dots and confetti print and can’t wait for a day to laze around in these.
I’ve been fighting the urge to wear my cargo vest every single day, but couldn’t resist breaking it out this week with one of my gingham shirts and khaki shorts. How perfect does my ampersand necklace look with it?
I’m linking a similar pair of these shoes because I had a typical “calf hair shoe experience” and hate the way the separated hair looks after one wear at home. They are super cute, but I’m forcing myself to return these beauties because they’re just not practical for me and I hate the idea of my shoes looking bad so soon after buying them.
The hunt for a new pair of leopard print flats continues. If you have a pair you love, leave me a comment or send me an email!
