Y’all I’ve been looking forward to the Kendra Scott Lexington store opening since I first caught wind that they were opening their first store in the Bluegrass State last summer.  When the store reached out about working with Tif and I for a Kendra Scott giveaway, I was over the moon.  Keep reading for more about my experience at the Color Bar, why I value my friendship with Tif and a giveaway for you and your bestie!

Kendra Scott Giveaway & Friendship | What’s the Skinny?

Can we be real for a few minutes?  Making friends in your mid twenties is hard!  I no longer have the built in network that came from college classes and Greek life, I don’t have kids that I can use to make mom friends #FuturePlans, and being an introvert means putting myself out there isn’t at the top of my to do list.

And maybe that’s why I’m so thankful for my friendship with Tif.  While we have a lot in common, she’s a happy-go-lucky extrovert and balances out my quieter demeanor.  Nothing proves it more than how we first met up; Tif sent me a DM on Instagram and said she wanted to come to Louisville to have lunch with me. We ended up having the best time & became fast friends. {Sending someone I hadn’t met a DM to meet up is admittedly something I’m way too shy to do.}

Having a blogger bestie gives me a sounding board; Tif understands my excitement over wins and my disappointment when things don’t go the way I want.  Our friendship has allowed us to work together when it comes to hosting events, landing collaborations and having someone that will give unfiltered, genuine feedback.

While we met through blogging, it’s easy for me to say now that our friendship is SO much more than good lighting, photoshoots and hosting events together.  With so much of my work based in social media, having women that whole heartedly has become even more important to me.  It can be easy to get caught up in the hype & to define your worth in likes so having women that will level with you, cheer you on in your successes, listen to you complain in the low moments and lift you up every day is priceless.

We’ve all had friendships that don’t exemplify that level of give and take and know that the ones that do are truly invaluable.

Kendra Scott Giveaway & Friendship | Devil’s in the Details.

Kendra Scott also sees the value of having close, genuine friends that sometimes feel like family.  The company has three pillars that they’ve built their brand around: fashion, family, and philanthropy.  While I’m a huge fan of the colorful styles that the brand carries, I love that they know what matters and place such importance on them.

The Lexington team hosted Tif and I for a girls day out at the Color Bar.  Neither of us had been to a Color Bar party before so hosting our own was a fun experience and we both got to design our own Kendra Scott pieces to add to our collections.  We each grabbed a menu and began the long process of narrowing down what items we wanted.

This is where our friendship made things hard; every time one of us would start to narrow it down, we’d suggest something else to the other.  Eventually – with lots of help from Sierra and Emilee – we both decided on gunmetal necklaces with bright stones.  While we chose different styles and stone colors, it’s fun to know that we share our own kind of friendship necklaces.

    How fun! I was so excited when they opened their first store in Wisconsin in April (especially since Kendra is from Wisconsin!). I’m loving the Kathy necklace since it’s adjustable and gives so many different looks!

    Aww, thank you, friend!!! We are lucky, that’s for sure! I always crack up, because even 5 years ago, I feel like if we’d told our moms that we were meeting someone we met online, they’d be like, “NO!!! You’re risking your safety!”lol Funny how IG and blogging are changing the world!!

    I’m definitely an introvert so I can really relate to feeling too shy to take the initiative to organize meetups with people I don’t know in real life–but how awesome that she was the one to take the initiative and that a great friendship blossomed out of that! Man, I need some friends like that! 🙂
