Super excited about today’s blog post where I’m sharing a Kentucky Derby charcuterie board. Because let’s be real, it’s all about the snacks! I got creative and made salami roses and even ordered some really cute Derby themed cookies.

Celebrate at Home with a Kentucky Derby Charcuterie Board | Salami Roses
When I first started planning out this Derby themed charcuterie board, I knew that I wanted to level up the presentation of the meat on this board. Typically, I lay salami out flat and if I’m feeling fancy I may fold it, but I decided that I wanted to make salami roses in honor of the race for the roses.

It was MUCH easier than I anticipated. Here’s how to recreate:
- Lay out three pieces of salami flat and slightly overlapping as shown above
- Fold the top piece in half and tightly roll until you meet the overlap of the next piece
- Fold the new piece of salami in half and continue to roll
After you’ve done this, you’ll have your roses and can use toothpicks to hold everything in place.
Celebrate at Home with a Kentucky Derby Charcuterie Board | Custom Sugar Cookies
Since I was doing a themed board, I wanted to add fun touches and as soon as I saw these Kentucky
Derby themed cookies that I wanted to place an order. The shop does custom cookies for all occasions from milestone birthdays, bridal showers, kids birthdays, and more, but it currently on hiatus. I also closely looked at these horseshoe cookies that are gorgeous.

I wanted to stick to a red, white, and green theme to tie to the garland of roses presented to the Derby winner so for this board I added my favorite chocolates that come in a red foil wrapping and donut holes dipped in powdered sugar to create the savory and sweet balance.

For a casual Derby gathering at home, I threw on a white blouse with jeans and then added some pieces from Vineyard Vines’ Kentucky Derby collection. I snagged this floral and gingham scarf that can be worn a ton of different ways and also is available in a dress. Instead of a fancy fascinator, I opted for a seersucker, bow headband also from the Derby collection. Love that this can be worn beyond Derby; it would be cute paired with a white or red dress for Memorial Day or 4th of July.
