I was lucky enough to co-host a Kentucky Derby style event at Macy’s last weekend and had such a blast. It’s always a huge compliment when a brand you love reaches out to you, but I felt allllllll the feels when I first got asked about this event. Like so many people, I’ve grown up going in and out of Macy’s stores everywhere as well as watching their parade on Thanksgiving mornings. So it was kind of a pinch me moment when they were like, “hey, we’d love to have you at our event!”
I headed to Macy’s at Oxmoor Center the Wednesday before my event and picked out a few Derby outfits for myself and for my model and then arrived a little {okay…a lot} early on the day of the event to set up my little boutique area and make some final picks.
Oh and great news, Macy’s is hosting Friends and Family right now! Take 25% off in stores and online {plus free shipping starting at $25!} just use code FRIEND // Louisville friends, if you don’t have a Derby hat or fascinator this is a great time to check out Macy’s selection!
So true life: my outfit for the event was originally the gorgeous white and peach fit and flare dress that’s on my {beautiful} model. I loved this bright, spring look so much that I ended up showing up and asking the event coordinator if I could switch things up and wear this look. The ruffled top brings out the chartreuse in the floral pencil skirt and I found the perfect wedges to match the light blue too! The outfit stays on trend by incorporating in one of Pantone’s colors of the year, Serenity.
This skirt gives me major Lilly P, vibes at a fraction of the cost. It also comes in a dress version and is perfect for this time of year — give me all the color!
Trying to think of a gift for Mom? I’ve got some Mother’s Day gift ideas coming but check these out while they’re 25% off!
Miranda from The Chic Street and I couldn’t resist hopping into the photo booth with our models. Guests got the chance to pick out fun props, shoot a series of four pictures as well as make drink stirrers shaped like Derby hats, jam with the DJ and enjoy San Pellegrino {I definitely snagged a bottle for myself} and mint julep brownies.
Thank you so much to Macy’s for the opportunity to be a co-host at this colorful and fun event!
