Mornings. You either love them or you hate them. Admittedly, I am far from what anyone would call a fan of mornings, but I have found a handful of things that make them more bearable and help me to start the morning right. Let me know in the comments if you’re team morning bird or night owl! Happy Galentine’s Day!

5 Things To Do To Start Your Morning Right | Have a Strategy For Snoozing
I started using the Sleep Cycle a few years back after reading a post where Krista recommended it. Basically, the app analyzes your sleep to track your REM cycle and asks you to give it a length of time from 10-90 minutes as a “wake up phase.” The app will sense when you’re coming out of a REM cycle and then start your alarm in the designated window.
You still are able to snooze but the app will tell you when you reach the end of the wake up phase. The result is that you don’t feel as groggy when your alarm goes off.
5 Things To Do To Start Your Morning Right | Morning Yoga
One of the things I really enjoy is taking 5-10 minutes when I first wake up to go through a yoga sun salutation. The poses aren’t advanced or complicated; you can definitely get through this as a yoga newbie or beginner. It’s a good {and short} stretching cycle that helps to invigorate you whether you use it first thing in the morning or when those afternoon sleepy vibes hit after lunch.

Whether you shower in the mornings or before bed, I love to get in the occasional face exfoliation to start the day. If you’re hopping in the shower to start off your day here’s my current favorites: LUSH Cup O’ Coffee, Biore Charcoal Bar {the peppermint is AWESOME at cutting through oil}, LUSH Salted Coconut {for hands}, & the 7th Heaven Charcoal Mask. If you’re more of a shower before bed person, I’ve been using the L’Oreal Pure Sugar Scrub Nourish & Soften mask recently. I like that it’s gentler and safe for multiple uses a week, plus it leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized.

5 Things To Do To Start Your Morning Right | Have a Drink
No, not that kind! I like hot tea to start off my mornings, but am trying to get into the habit of drinking a Tervis tumbler of ice water first. There’s SO many benefits to upping your regular water intake: clear skin, more energy, less stress on the body, etc. While there’s tons of different ways to track this, I find it easy to drink out of my Tervis tumblers at home and my S’well bottle when I’m on the go.

5 Things To Do To Start Your Morning Right | Put on Something That You Love
If you’ve been around for a while, you know I’m a big advocate for wearing clothes that make you feel confident! I picked up this “love” sweater, because I knew it would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. It’s easy to throw on with jeans and the high low cut makes it chic with or without a half tuck.

5 Things To Do To Start Your Morning Right | Put on Something That You Love
I wore it here layered over my favorite white button up shirt; this one’s a non iron dress shirt – seriously a game changer! This is my “appropriate for the office” Valentine’s Day outfit, so I tucked the sweater into one of my favorite wool skirts for winter and threw on some patterned tights to add texture and print.

When it came to accessories, I kept things relatively simple: a pretty in pink shoulder bag and black tassel earrings. {Totally a sucker for any and all tassel earrings; snatch up a pair if you don’t already have some!}

We keep a pitcher of (peeled!) citrus-infused water! It’s amazing how great that makes you feel in the morning! Be sure to peel the fruit, if you leave the skin and pith on, the water turns bitter after a few hours, but if it’s peeled, then the pitcher lasts a couple of days! 🙂

Great tips! I’ve been doing yoga sun salutations in the morning to get me going for a while now and I highly recommend it if it resonates with you. It has changed my world to start my mornings off that way. I need to do better about drinking water too because I sure do love my morning cup of tea. Thanks for the inspiration!
