Without fail each April, I’m in a Derby state of mind. {Don’t believe me? Check out this year’s Derby posts: x, x, x, x, x, and x.} But today, I’m in a Darling State of Mind, thanks to this gorgeous neon derby dress.

Neon Derby Dress | What’s the skinny?
I picked out two outfits when I visited Darling State of Mind a few weeks ago. The first was a more casual look {check it out here!}, but I struggled with whether I wanted to pick out a dressier look for Derby, Easter, Mother’s Day brunch, etc. This dress caught my eye because it came in blue {I know y’all – I know.} but since I’m working on expanding my closet this year, I tried on the orange first. And spoiler alert: I loved it! This dress is perfect for all of my upcoming occasions; I styled it here for Derby but I could definitely break it out for the bridal showers and weddings I have coming up this weekend too.
Neon Derby Dress | Devil’s in the details.
This dress is super bright and eye-catching so I wanted to pick pieces that would complement it but allow it to remain the star of the outfit. My nude pumps have easily been my best purchase this spring; since I still will probably never be a gal in heels, I wanted a pair that were affordable and semi-comfortable too. While you could pair this colorful dress with a white, peach or blush bag, I reached for my calf hair, leopard clutch.
With the bright dress and coordinating fascinator, I felt like I had the opportunity to reach for more minimal jewelry. My last Rocksbox had two different Kendra Scott pieces: the Kensey adjustable ring set and the Meghan necklace. I have the Kendra Scott Elisa in a few different colors so I was excited to try the Meghan out. This necklace’s design makes it easy to adjust the length to a dainty pendant, choker or short necklace which I really liked.
