Happy Monday! Sorry for being so MIA the second half of last week, I came down with a cold and being under the weather really wasn’t conducive to blogging…at all. Looking forward to some fresh new content this week! But first, let’s recap Instagram — I’ve worn some pieces that I really love lately and think you will too.
A cold and rainy day seemed like the perfect time to try out a Toasted Graham Hot Chocolate. 8/10, would recommend. How cute is this gingham umbrella? Really brightens up a gray day.
This sweater forever. It come in lilac too, so get on it.
None of the potential outfits I had pulled for this day were looking right when I put them on, so I wasn’t even remotely surprised when this sweater looked horrible untucked. While I was standing in my closet, brainstorming on what in the world I could wear to work, I threw on my jean jacket to see if it would hide the awkward tucked in waistline and fell in love with this outfit! I’ve said it a ton, but I absolutely love when I think up a new way to wear something that’s already in my closet.
Did you catch this look on the blog? It’s one of my favorite posts this month!
Finally broke out the camel sweater and once again got a million compliments on it. I’m not sure what it is about graphic sweaters, but I swear everyone is drawn to them. Also, I find them so fun to wear so that’s a plus too. Black jeans have been heavy in my feed lately — mostly because I’m allowed to wear them to work and I like to keep my phone on me during the day so I can track my steps. #StillTooCheapForAFitBit #WheresSantaAt
I really am going to make an effort to diversify my bottom half, but with the yo yo-ing temps, black jeans have been my go to.
I found this blazer back in March and did not realize until I took this photo that it was navy and not black. Now it feels like everything has changed. I like this blazer because it’s a soft blazer and having a more flexible structure makes it a lot easier to wear in a casual look.
This shirt is super comfy and I love the navy in this plaid. It does run big so be sure to size down if you’re between sizes or want a more fitted look.
This is pretty much a verbatim outfit repeat from earlier this year, but I love the black gingham and buffalo plaid too much to be scared by something as silly as outfit repeating. My mom made me my first pair of boot cuffs proving that she is actually listening when I complain about silly things like paying $14 for tubes for my boots, but I’m going to have a super fun giveaway featuring boot socks coming to my Instagram this month, so stay tuned!
I’m not a big purse collector; I get why people love them, but I’ve always been more likely to splurge on clothing or a comfy and cute pair of shoes, but this Kate Spade bag has pretty much been my everyday bag since I bought it back in March. I actually did not own a black bag prior to this so I talked myself into splurging a bit on a purse that I considered a wardrobe staple for years to come. Finding it at a consignment shop made the deal a lot sweeter, obviously.
This wrap skirt had quite the journey. I ordered this during JCrew Factory’s Memorial Day sale; I always struggle with JCF skirt sizing because my hips measure in one size and my waist measures in another. I went with the larger size and as soon as the skirt got to me it was beyond apparent that it was the wrong move. See: wrap skirt hanging mid thigh…yeah it was bad. Unfortunately, this skirt was a final sale piece so I finally took it to the tailor a few weeks ago and it’s now wearable (four months later…). I’ve told you a million and one times that cobalt is my fave but seriously – how stunning is this shade?! Currently eyeing: this wrap skirt and this houndstooth shirt, the contrast is amazing & I love Brooks Brothers button downs.
I have a million and one Vera lunch bags (probably closer to 5-10) from when I worked in a store and this one is for sure my favorite! It’s a larger size which means more snacks (yassssss) and space for my Vitamin Waters (I hate having to take “lunch size” drinks to work — trying to stay hydrated). I also like that it’s all plastic so I’m not as concerned about spills, setting it on the floor and whatnot. It’s pretty wide and tall in comparison to Vera’s other lunch bags so I can fit my salad and freezer tupperware into the bag without a problem.
I’ve linked a longer version of this dress in case you don’t want to be like me and constantly spend time pulling your dress down
All of this quilted goodness made it’s way out of storage and into my closet. I’ve yet to buy a new quilted vest this season, but am feeling okay about that for the time being. I did add a utility vest into my wardrobe and it’s already become a closet staple for me. I’m looking forward to thinking up some new outfits with these beauties and getting more wear out of them.
So much goodness in this flatlay; the blanket scarf is great, because it’s square shaped and therefore so much easier to style. These boots are four years old and still the best $40 I spent on a fall staple, they lasted forever and are super comfortable…think about four years of me working eight hour shifts in retail during the holidays and wearing these every day. This combo is one that I can’t wait to wear when it’s a little more appropriate to wear layers.
I’ve been a little under the weather and haven’t been in the mood to break out the tripod (or write a blog post), but finally got around to it today. This look is pretty simple and consists of basic pieces most of us have in our closets: a striped shirt + blue jeans that you love + a cross body purse that can hold your wallet and keys. Rain boots may or may not be a staple depending on where you live. I linked a few different styles of boots above — including a budget friendly version that I actually own in hot pink. Paying full price for Hunter boots was out of the question for me last year, but with all the rain, snow and slush we experienced, I quickly realized I needed something other than riding boots that I could go outside in. The Target version is reasonably priced, comes in a wide variety of color (for real how drool worthy are the coral and mint – so much yes!) and have a very familiar look if you like Hunter boots. They do run big, so size down.
I wanted to wear something warmer but not too hot on Saturday; work is always either too hot or too cold, no happy medium unfortunately. Having lots of layers is always the way for me to go, so I brought a duster length cardigan in my bag and was ready to go in this outfit. This short, marble necklace has been a piece I’ve found myself reaching for a lot; lately I’ve been more into delicate pieces.
This throwback look is one of my favorites, look at all these classic pieces! Gingham dress + denim vest + simple cross body + perfect fall nail color. This dress is one of my very favorites and was an awesome end of summer clearance find from Francesca’s.
