As social media continues to grow, bloggers and small business owners have more and more ways to promote. One that commonly gets overlooked by new bloggers is Pinterest! I’ve had several newer bloggers comment that they don’t know how to keep up with this platform; today I’m sharing a tool I began using a few months ago that has made utilizing Pinterest to boost blog traffic a breeze.
Boosting your blog traffic is a breeze with THIS Pinterest tool! Click To Tweet{This post may contain affiliate or referral links. I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you if you make a purchase through a link in this post. Thank you for your support of What Nicole Wore.}
I’ve had my Pinterest since before I had a blog. When I first started blogging I rarely pinned my blog posts – mostly because I still was hiding my blog from any and everyone that knew me in real life. Last year, I made the switch to regularly pinning my blog content and earlier this year I decided to pay for an automatic scheduler.
Pinterest Strategy | Deciding to Invest.
Deciding to invest in your blog {or business} can be a really tough decision because there are SO many different areas you can choose to put money towards. Finding time for the daily, weekly, and monthly tasks can be tough since I run What Nicole Wore by myself. I signed up for a free trial with Tailwind and less than a week later decided to invest and upgrade to Plus. The scheduler saved me hours and has made growing my Pinterest account so much easier.
Deciding to invest in your blog can be a tough decision. Click To TweetTailwind can be used on your computer or cell phone, which is a huge plus for me. You’ll want to install the Tailwind extension so that you can save content to schedule from anywhere on the internet.
Pinterest Strategy | Tailwind’s Smart Scheduler.
Once you’ve registered for an account, you’ll be able to set up a Smart Schedule under the Publish tab. Indicate how many times a day you’d like to pin and then Tailwind will set a schedule with the best posting times based around that number. You’ll have the option to change this and can always set custom times if you want something pinned on a specific date and/or time. {Super handy for group boards with posting requirements!}
This tool schedules your pins at the best times for you. Engage your Pinterest followers: Click To TweetPinterest Strategy | Shuffle Your Queue!
After you’ve added some original content and repins to your Tailwind queue, head to the Scheduled Pins tab. On this page, you can edit pins’ captions to add keywords and also shuffle your queue. This for me is one of the BEST features of a Pinterest scheduler.
Sharing old blog content to Pinterest has never been easier! Learn how: Click To TweetI like knowing that my content will be mixed up and pinned to my boards over a wide span of time versus just on the day that I publish it. Since doing this, I’ve seen an increase in traffic to older posts of mine. While sharing old content is a no brainer, it can be hard to keep up with!
Wondering how to best mix up your Pinterest content? Spilling my secret here: Click To TweetAs I mentioned previously, keeping up with all parts of the promotion process can be a lot for one person. The best thing that Tailwind has done is allowed me to not think about Pinterest for days {and even weeks} at a time. At this point, I typically have 800-1,000 pins scheduled and can just work on adding to my queue versus going through and manually pinning each image from my blog.
Pinterest Strategy | Tailwind for iPhone.
I primarily fill my Tailwind queue through the Pinterest app on my phone before bed. I’ve showed what the process looks like below:
Did you know you can use @TailwindApp with the Pinterest for iPhone app? Click To TweetWhen you see a pin you want to add to your queue, hold down on it and hit the share button. After you select the “more” option, you’ll be able to select which board{s} you want to post it to. To add it to your queue hit the green schedule button. If you want to post at a custom time, hit save to drafts and then you’ll be able to schedule the specific date and time from a desktop. Some group boards on Pinterest will require that you pin to and from the board a certain number of times per day.
The ‘Save to Drafts’ allows me to save up these pins and then go through and schedule them all at once!
If you head into the Tailwind app you’ll see your queue and be able to move around pins in your schedule by dragging and dropping them.
Pinterest Strategy | Sign Up for a Free Month of Tailwind.

I did the free trial but am still so confused on Tailwind- Don’t you have to manually click on all your blog photos to schedule anyway?? And what does the paid service get you that the free trial doesn’t?

You have to select each photo but you can make a “board list” and then it’ll automatically schedule them to all of those boards. Plus lets you schedule unlimited pins and view analytics beyond just the 30 days too.
