Rating Latest Beauty Finds + Born to Run Collection | Eyeshadow Palettes
While I have many palettes {cough– I desperately need to do a destash –cough}, there’s been a few I’ve been using more than any others.
- Urban Decay, Born to Run palette c/o {$49} // I received the whole Born to Run collection last week and have really enjoyed digging into this 21-pan palette. It features neutrals, bolds, mattes, shimmers, and satins that make it easy to create both daytime and nighttime looks. {Over the weekend, I did a dramatic smokey eye with ‘Riff’ as my base, transition shade, ‘Drift’ packed onto the outer corner, and then ‘Double Life’ as a crease color.} These shadows are SO blendable and the mattes perform incredibly well, even on my medium-deep skin tone.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills, Soft Glam palette {$42} // This was my first Anastasia palette and I could not believe how smooth the shadows blended. They’re easy to work with and don’t crease when used with a shadow primer.
- Urban Decay, Backtalk eye and face palette c/o {$46} // These shadows don’t seem to have the same easy to blend formula that we’ve come to expect from Naked palettes; ‘Shade’ isn’t pigmented and has hardly any color payoff. Still the palette is one I’ve reached for due to the different color story {a rose hue} and the incredibly pigmented blushes and highlights!
- Laura Lee Los Angeles, Party Animal palette c/o {$19} // This palette was in the August BoxyCharm & initially I was really excited about it; I’ve watched several of Laura’s videos. Unfortunately, there’s been a lot of information coming out about Laura and most reviews claim the palette is patchy, not pigmented, and doesn’t blend well.
- Urban Decay, Naked Petite Heat palette c/o {$29} // I was also super pumped to receive this miniature palette from Urban Decay; the smaller size is PERFECT for travel, but the colors were a bit off for me. The mini palette features 5 mattes with an orange color story and one shimmer for highlighting. As is common with shadow palettes, the highlight is too light for my skintone and almost appears chalky. If a mini palette that’s easy to use for travel is on your list, I’d recommend the Naked2 Basics for the same price.
Rating Latest Beauty Finds + Born to Run Collection | What I Got From CosBar
- Laura Mercier, Translucent Powder c/o // Setting powders usually are white or translucent and can cause a ghostly tint on my dark skin if a lot is applied. This one comes in the classic translucent white as well as a tan/deep. This powder has been a fan favorite for a long time and I totally get the hype. It keeps my oily skin from melting through my makeup and works perfectly with my favorite setting spray.
- Jo Malone London, Cologne c/o // I first tried this Wood Sage and Sea Salt as a sample and loved it! The scent lingers but isn’t overwhelming either; I really love the lightness of this perfume.
- Patchology, Smartmud No Mess Mud Mask c/o // Finally, I restocked on these masks during my last trip to CosBar. I love mud masks but hate how messy they can be. This mask is the perfect compromise because it comes in sheet mask form which keeps the excess from getting all over you.

Laura Mercier powder definitely lives up to the hype!
