If you follow along on Instagram, you probably caught that I spent last weekend in Saint Louis, Missouri. St. Louis is a four hour drive from Louisville making it perfect for a weekend getaway. I headed west for a girls’ weekend and wanted to share my recommendations on where to eat in Saint Louis & what to do on a quick trip!

24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Brunch at Rooster
If you’ve been reading What Nicole Wore or following on #WhereNicoleWent for awhile, you likely know that one of the most important aspects of any trip I go on is the food. Before leaving for Saint Louis, I made sure to do some searching on restaurants I wanted to try. As soon as we got into St. Louis, we went straight to Rooster. Rooster has two locations, one downtown and one in the South Grand neighborhood! Admittedly, the drink menu was what really spoke to me.

While at Rooster, I ordered the Sunset Mimosa and the Goat Cheese & Tomato Jam crepe. I also ordered the S’mores crepe to try. The Sunset Mimosa was delicious; the other on the menu that I was eyeing was the Hurricane Mimosa. My goat cheese and tomato jam crepe was really good; I love how the tomato jam complemented the goat cheese. The s’mores crepe was less impressive to me; I didn’t really notice the cookie crumbles in the five or so bites I took of this crepe. Also would have loved for the marshmallow to have actually been inside the crepe as opposed to on the side, but oh well.

Overall, I would go back to Rooster but 0/10 do not sit on the outside patio during the summer months. While it felt nice outside, they have a tin style roof that makes the patio feel a lot hotter. I probably would have enjoyed my brunch more had I been inside or on the uncovered portion of the patio. Brunch at Rooster 7.5/10

24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Go to the Arch
One of the gals I went with had never been to the Arch so that was one of the top items on our list for the weekend. Pro tip: if you want to take the tram to the top, there are several different package offers {just the tram, a riverboat cruise + the tram, etc.}, but be sure to reserve in advance. Being a weekend, it was super packed and crazy at the Gateway Arch when we rolled in. We ended up swinging by and then heading over to…

24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Check Out Ballpark Village
Fox Sports Midwest Live! Louisville pals, the logo may look familiar. We’d planned on trying to go to a tour of the Anheuser-Busch brewery. This is another thing that you probably will want to book in advance; while the tour is free, you can pay $5 to reserve time slots. We ended up heading to the Budweiser Brew House which is inside Midwest Live! and then checking out the whole space. It was packed because there was a baseball game, but a lot of fun.

At Budweiser Brew House, we all grabbed drinks and then walked around the Live! complex. Since it’s all covered, you can wander through the two story complex with your drink. There’s several patios, different bars and restaurants to check out, multiple beer pong tables, and tvs everywhere. I’m not a beer person so I grabbed the Strawberry Mule from the Brew House.
24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Go See a Cardinals Game
I always forget how much fun baseball is to watch in person. We have a minor league team in Louisville that I’ve actually never seen in person {#oops}. When I lived in DC I usually caught at least one Nationals game each summer so it was fun to see the Cardinals before a lengthy rain delay. During the first rain delay, I got the loaded tater tot nachos minus the jalapeños. They were AMAZING. I’m a huge advocate for tater tots in general, but these definitely were a food highlight for me.

24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Dinner & Dessert
After a crazy bit of thunderstorm/monsoon rolled through, we grabbed an Uber and headed to check in at our Air BNB {I’ve uploaded an IGTV episode that gives a tour of our Air BNB and recap of the weekend in under 2 1/2 minutes! You can check it out here.} The owner has a few other Air BNBs in St. Louis that you can also check out if you need more or less space!

After drying off and resting for a few, we headed back out for dinner at Das Bevo, a German restaurant with live music. I was still WAY too stuffed to order dinner so I ordered a drink and cringed through the band they had. Das Bevo is in a super cool building and if I hadn’t been so full, I probably would have tried the schnitzel.
We then rode over to Bailey’s Chocolate Bar and it was AMAZING. The Chocolate Bar serves desserts and dessert cocktails. I got the classic brownie which comes with a scoop of their Bailey’s ice cream and drizzled with a salted caramel sauce. The brownie is fudgy and overall just delicious. 10/10 would recommend going!

24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Brunchin’
The next morning we got up and headed to SqWires for brunch! I totally wish we had time to try this for dinner because the dinner menu looks delicious as well. They have an incredible brunch set up with a HUGE DIY bar station to build your own mimosas or Bloody Marys. For $16, you can do a bottomless mimosa. I was so impressed with number of different juices they had to choose from: orange, mango, pear, cranberry, peach, papaya, pineapple, and grapefruit.

I’m not a Bloody Mary person but the bar was stocked with everything you could dream of putting in your Bloody. {I’m tacky and stole some gummy worms to snack on before my breakfast came.}
I ordered the Creole Shrimp omelette which came over a bed of cheese grits — YAS. The biscuits here are delicious so if I went back, I would definitely want to try the biscuits and gravy. 9/10 to SqWires brunch.
24 Hour Challenge + What to Do in Saint Louis | Visit Grant’s Farm
After brunch and before heading home, we stopped by Grant’s Farm where they keep some of the retired Budweiser Clydesdales. It’s free to visit the main stable and take the train over to see the animals. Feeding the baby goats is $1.50/bottle and you can pay for camel rides, feeding the llamas, pony rides, parakeet feedings, and more.

Looks like such a fun weekend! I’ve only been to Saint Louis once- when I was quite young for my cousin’s college graduation! I’d love to go back as an adult.
