These past few days have been completely unlike any I can remember. It felt weird to jump back into blog content without addressing how weird life is right now, but I thought I’d share some ideas of how to stay connected with others during social distancing. I’m an extroverted introvert and know that getting outside human interaction will be key to my own survival.

How to Stay Connected During Social Distancing | Make a Point to Touch Base
Check in with your friends! This week has ben emotionally and mentally tough on most of us, but one of the bright spots from me has been the texts and DMs from friends. They’ve ranged from “how are you feeling” check ins, funny memes, talking through day to day feelings, sharing Tik Toks, and more. Having these conversations helps maintain a sense of normalcy in the day to day while also helping us all know how we can emotionally support each other.

How to Stay Connected During Social Distancing | Plan a Virtual Watch Party
One of the things I love on Mondays is watching the Bachelor because so many of my friends are also watching. Before I joined Bachelor Nation, I loved Scandal Thursdays for a similar reason. Pick an evening and a show or movie on Netflix or Hulu to watch together. Google Chrome has a Netflix Party extension that allows you to stream in time with friends or loved ones and even have a live chat during the showing.

How to Stay Connected During Social Distancing | Utilize Social Media
One of the best things about social media is that it helps us to connect and keep a community from afar. While not everyone uses it this way, try utilizing it during social distancing to share product reviews, the books you’re reading, where you’re ordering carry out from, recommend podcasts, etc. Social media definitely makes it easier to touch base with friends with everything from Facebook Messenger to Instagram Stories to Twitter.

Instagram DMs are huge for a number of reasons but I also have a couple of group messages through the app with friends. It makes it easy to check in, share events we want to check out, and send memes. Lately, I’ve been trying to ask how everyone’s doing in these messages too!
How to Stay Connected During Social Distancing | The Outfit
Last week, I was supposed to co-host an event at Draper James in Lexington. I ended up cancelling due to a combination of bad weather and concern over the spread of coronavirus. This dress was what I would have worn; my Draper James dresses are staples in my closet. They are comfortable enough to wear casually like I did hear, but also nice enough for conferences, an office, or church. This was one I had planned on styling again for a Derby post, but also will work this summer for weddings and events!
