For me, one of the most intimidating things about starting a blog was figuring out how to set up social media scheduling so that I could get traffic without being annoying. Today, I’m sharing some of the ways I’ve learned to make this process easier as well as the schedules I use to share posts.

Social Media Scheduling for Bloggers: How to Increase Traffic & Grow on Social Media | Why Should I Share Old Posts?
A huge portion of your traffic should be to old posts; think about timing and what’s relevant that you may have written before. Seasonally, I’m able to do this by sharing outfit posts from previous years. One of the easiest ways to do this is by sharing old content to social media. Now that’s not to say I share ALL of my old content! There are some old posts that have less than stellar photography, writing, etc. I try to update posts where I can but only share work that I’m proud of. Remember you have new followers and readers, share past content that they may love!
Bloggers, remember you have new followers and share old content they may love! Click To TweetI used to worry about overloading people when I shared a new post, but you should be sharing content on all of your social media channels. Chances are you do have followers that don’t follow you on every single platform; make sure they’re being alerted of new content!

Social Media Scheduling for Bloggers: How to Increase Traffic & Grow on Social Media | How Do I Keep Up With It All?
This can be one of the most intimidating things for new bloggers. Hell, even for seasoned bloggers this can be intimidating! While some bloggers hire assistants or interns to help out with this part of the process, I still singlehandedly run What Nicole Wore. That’s not to say that I’ll always do it myself, but I have figured out ways to make things easier on myself. And by easier for myself, I mean actually manageable aka a task that I can easily complete each week.
Sharing the two outlines I stick to for sharing content on Facebook and Twitter: Click To TweetEarlier this year, I really made it a goal to do a better job with my social media consistency across the board and it’s really paid off. I’m going to share the two schedules I use when I’m scheduling out shares to Facebook and Twitter. I set aside about an hour each week to go through and schedule posts for the whole week. Sometimes, I’ll go ahead and do two weeks if I know things are going to be crazy but I try not to go beyond that.

While I’ve tried other schedulers, I’ve found that Facebook’s in app scheduler is the best. {Not surprising that they’d want you to use theirs over anyone else!} You’ll read different things, but I try to post at least 2 times a day and up to 5 times.
So what do you share? A variety of things! I’ll share memes related to my niche, old posts, affiliate links {make sure to disclose that they’re affiliate links!}, fellow bloggers content, and new posts. I try to make sure that every week I’m also sharing links to other social media pages. Things like, “if you love following along for my personal style, be sure to check me out on Pinterest!” This is a great way to build your network and bring followers over to another platform.

Twitter is an entirely different beast. The average tweet is only “seen” for about 18 minutes after you send it, so tweeting often is recommended. With Twitter, I share a lot more content from fellow bloggers. I schedule out 5-7 tweets per day and take care to share a variety of content as mentioned above.
Sharing the free program I use for scheduling Tweets in advance. Bloggers, you need this! Click To TweetNot wanting to shell out money for another scheduler, I started using Tweetdeck a few months ago. While there are some limitations, I find it works great for the purpose of automating my Twitter feed. You’re able to set the date and time for each tweet and Tweetdeck will push through the Tweet when the time comes. Some things to be aware of with Tweetdeck:
- If you add a photo to a tweet, it will not let you edit the drafted tweet afterwards
- Large photos are a no, you’ll need to resize or take a screenshot.
- You can only schedule retweets if you’re quoting the Tweet and adding commentary.
- It does have 280 characters!
- There’s not an app and the site is not very mobile friendly.

Twitter bonus tips:
- Make sure to mix in real time content too whether it be interacting with others or live tweeting your favorite show.
- Twitter lists are the best thing since sliced bread — use them!
- If you have a Bloglovin’ page, check the setting that sends new posts to Twitter.

I use Tailwind and Boardbooster in addition to SmarterQueue for social media scheduling. It’s an investment but so worth it.

Being able to schedule social media posts has saved me so much time. I was so happy when Facebook finally made it possible to do so rather than having to do it through another site. For Twitter and Instagram, I use HootSuite and Buffer to schedule posts. If This Then That (IFTTT) is also a great tool.
