It’s not a secret: I love makeup. I’m lucky to get to try out a lot of new products through both collaborations and public relation samples that I receive. It’s been awhile but my spring beauty finds are pretty good and a couple may save you a few bucks!

The Love List: Spring Beauty Finds Edition | Backtalk Palette — Why I Like It
I’d mentioned wanting to try the limited edition Backtalk palette and then it showed up on my doorstep — the best kind of surprise. I’ve pretty much been wearing this exclusively lately; it’s fun to create different looks and experiment with. Picking which makeup I’m going to take on trips can get overwhelming for me so one of the things I appreciate about this palette is that it includes two blush and two highlights in addition to the eyeshadows. The biggest knock I have against this palette is that there isn’t magnetic closures for the two sides.

The Love List: Spring Beauty Finds Edition | What About the Colors?
There are eight shadows; three are mattes {3 sheets, Backtalk, and WTF}. 3 Sheets is really too porcelain for me to do much with, but Backtalk and WTF are solid transition shades. The two champagne shimmers that were selected for the palette {Bare & Curve} are super similar, in my opinion. I kind of wish they would have ditched Bare and gave us something different. The three dark shimmers in this beauty palette {Shade, Attitude, and 180} work well for creating a nighttime look. I know some people have complained that Shade isn’t as pigmented as most Urban Decay shadows, but it’s very blendable and I’ve found it buildable as well.

The Love List: Spring Beauty Finds Edition | The Face Portion
Cheap Shot is a berry colored blush with shimmer; I have to apply this with a light hand. Double Take, on the other hand, is a mauve that’s universally flattering. This palette is one that’s incredibly on tan to deep skin while it may be a bit dark for those that are fair. The two highlights in this palette are INCREDIBLE. I immediately was drawn to Party Foul; this is a bright highlight and when applied with a wet brush gives you that blinding highlight that’s perfect for events. Low Key is just as the name implies, more subtle. The peach undertone is beautiful and perfect for daytime wear.

The Love List: Spring Beauty Finds Edition | Affordable NYX Cosmetics Picks
I got a huge PR package from NYX Cosmetics that included their top 20 products. NYX is one of my favorite drugstore brands as they carry a wide range of products and have a huge shade range. The Wonder Stick has hands down been my favorite new product that I received. It’s very user friendly regardless of your makeup skill level and easy to blend out. I also have been using the Honey Dew Me Up Primer; it’s a good base prior to applying foundation and gives the skin a glow without looking oily — always a concern for me!

The Love List: Spring Beauty Finds Edition | Finding a Good Liquid Eyeliner
I’d been using the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner for a couple years but decided in February that I wanted to try and find a drugstore alternative. I’m into a small wing on my eyeliner so I like using liquid eyeliner pens because of how easy application can be. While out and about I picked up the elf Cosmetics Intense Ink Eyeliner and the NYX Epic Ink Liner. The Elf one was $3 and while I loved it, the pen dried out in about three weeks. It was super easy to create my daily baby winged eyeliner, but I can’t see replacing my eyeliner that frequently. I’m trying the NYX liner now and the super slim and pointed felt tip also makes it beyond easy to flick on a quick wing.

I rarely shop for beauty products, but that skirt you’re wearing? I’ll definitely splurge on that any day!
I love elf cosmetics! I’ll have to check their eyeliner out.
OBSESSED with the new UD line and palette! So many gorgeous shades!
NYX is seriously my favorite, I can’t wait to try these out!
Loving your Spring picks (and loving that skirt girl)!
Loving the new UD! Thanks for posting this. Love me some beauty products.
I agree that palettes are the best for travel. You can usually get away with taking less with you. The no magnetic closure would be such a pain though! Thanks for your honest review.
