In the spirit of spring break, today I’m sharing some spring beauty favorites and how to pack them up with Vera Bradley. I’ve been using Vera’s cosmetic bags for years now; my typical go to is the Medium Cosmetic! I got a change to try out a newer style, the Travel Cosmetic Set, which now comes in seven colors.
Shop My Spring Beauty Favorites:
With as many lipsticks as I have, keeping them organized is really important. This acrylic makeup organizer has pull out drawers and you can purchase more of the drawers as your makeup stash grows. I have a couple drawers for lipsticks and use the rest for palettes and blushes. One drawer also acts as a home to my samples and travel size goodies.
This part of the cosmetic set features a magnetic snap closure and eight different sized elastic bands to hold brushes. As you can see, I use mine for brushes as well as tubes of liquid lipstick and eyeliner. The lining can be wiped down with a rag or wipe so you don’t have to worry about makeup getting all over.
Spring Beauty Favorites | The fail – LimeCrime Velvetines lipsticks
When it comes to liquid lipsticks, I tend to switch between ColourPop and Kylie’s lip kits. I like Kylie’s mattes better because I think they last the longest, but ColourPop has a much wider variety of colors and I love their satin formula. I recently decided to try some of LimeCrime’s mattes; the Velvetine lipsticks are incredibly pigmented but wear quickly and don’t have much lasting power. The darker shades I ordered were patchy when applied and started wearing pretty quickly which was a huge bummer. While the lipstick’s sell for $20, shipping is not free for domestic purchases under $50 and I feel like I could get a better product for comparable pricing if not cheaper. Can’t say I’ll be buying anymore LimeCrime lipsticks.
Spring Beauty Favorites | the Travel Cosmetic Set
One of the things I love about this set is that each piece is a different print or fabrication making it super easy to know if you have all of them. All of the bags are either machine washable if cotton or a plastic/vinyl that can be wiped down with a Lysol wipe which I love. This polka dot bag is a smaller size that’s perfect for me to either throw in a bunch of my jewelry in travel pouches or to hold nail polish! I can fit more bottles in but just needed three this day.
Spring Beauty Favorites | The affordable option to shellac, OPI Infinite Shine
I’m trying out OPI’s Infinite Shine system currently on day six with no chips which never happens with a normal polish for me. OPI brags on this polish by saying it has “the gel like shine without the light.” To get the lasting effect, you have to use the base and top coat from the set which retail at $20. The colors run at $12.50 {$4 more than their normal polishes}. I’m planning on seeing how long this manicure can hold up and then try using a normal polish with the base and top coat.
Spring Beauty Favorites | The Sheet Mask:
Patchology’s SmartMud Detox masks come in a set of five for $40. I’ve loved using this product; my skin feels incredibly soft after I use the masks and the next morning I feel like my skin is brighter and renewed. What I loved about these masks is that they are actually mud, but not messy since you peel off a backing to put it onto your face. This is the first sheet mask I’ve tried so I’m looking forward to trying out some different ones and hopefully finding a more affordable option.
