Guys, a major life change has happened for me recently. I embraced the jumpsuit. This is definitely one of those fashion pieces that I loved on other people but always thought looked wrong on my body and I finally just found that like most other clothing trends, that it’s about finding the right fit for your body type. I’m really looking forward to a summer with jumpsuits because they’re so easy to throw on, instantly look put together, and will be a real life saver when it’s hotter than blazes.

Jumpstart Your Best Summer with Jumpsuits | My Body Type
I’ve had people comment before that I shouldn’t label myself curvy because of the sizes I wear. Ever since I was a pre-teen and my body developed, my hips have been inproportional to the rest of my body. Shopping for pants became a real struggle and the thought of wearing anything skintight became a no-go for me because while it would fit everywhere else I hated the super stretched look that would emphasize my hips. {LOL, I’m still like this!} Some people may not consider me curvy because of the numerical size I wear and I understand that, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that for a long time it felt like clothes weren’t made with any consideration for my body type.

I’m a classic pear shape; my shoulders and torso are small while my hips flare out. I’ve mentioned many times that I tend to gravitate towards fit and flare styles and it’s because that particular cut fits my body type. Sheaths, bodycons, etc are not my friend. If it fits in the chest, it won’t fit in the hips and vice versa. Because jumpsuits are one piece, I struggled to find one that would fit in both parts of my body. Recently though, I’ve had a bit of luck!

Each year, I try to challenge my personal style during my Derby series and so this year I included a jumpsuit. It ended up being my personal favorite look from this year’s WNW does Derby series. After that success, it felt natural to keep an open mind to jumpsuits. During a recent trip to Gordmans, I spotted this jumpsuit and was quickly smitten with the striped wide legged pants.

One thing that I really like about this jumpsuit is the belt to break up the top and bottom halves. I pulled out my favorite red purse to match the flowers in the pants; I love a good print mix and highlighting some of the color in it was easy with this floral print. I think next time I might try to pull some of the navy in the stripes out!

My jewelry is pretty simple; I have on a pair of pearl statement earrings from Kendra Scott that I absolutely love and found at Nordstrom Rack. In a total ‘blogger moment,’ I knew that I was going to shoot photos in front of this mint store front and so I made sure to throw on a necklace that matched.

Oh I love this jumpsuit! The stripes and floral pattern are spot on for spring. That belt you used really divides up this outfit and shows off your waist!
