Today’s #Blogmas post combines one of my favorite colors, navy, with one of the season’s biggest trends: velvet. I love that the pattern features gold swirls to add a festive touch to this swing dress.

You guys: Blogmas is here! I’m super pumped to share 12 different posts over the next couple of weeks sharing the best holiday outfit inspiration, gift guides and even a few giveaways. I’m kicking off the series with today’s post which is also apart of the monthly How I Style It blog hop where we are all styling holidays colors.

Merry Christmas Eve! You may remember this skirt from a post a couple week’s ago. I picked out the red plaid skirt because of how perfect it is for the holidays so it seemed like the perfect skirt for getting dressed up for Christmas Eve. We’d usually be heading out to dinner tonight, but had some family decide to join us at the last minute so we’re staying in and making egg rolls tonight. I love getting dressed up with my family, but am excited to hang out in jeans tonight.
I’ve been embracing lip color lately and felt like quite the risk taker when I ordered this set. I really like the color and it tastes really good too. The stick is super pigmented and the color applies easily. Experimenting with makeup has been my free time hobby the past couple weeks and I finally caved last week and ordered a blender. Guys, no one was lying or exaggerating – it’s a game changer for your makeup bag! My number one ‘getting ready’ song recently has been December off Ariana Grande’s Christmas and Chill EP. Definitely my new favorite Christmas jams.
I love a bold coat and this green one is perfect for the season. I knew I wanted to pair it with this skirt with the subtle green stripe running through the plaid. It’s been super warm here (think 70 degrees) so a coat isn’t completely necessary but good to have on hand if the weather decides to get wonkier.
I snagged these lace up flats a couple weeks ago when Old Navy restocked online, unfortunately they’ve already sold out again, but this pair is pretty similar and is on sale right now for $20.
Fit and flare skirts are 100% a “safe” option for me; I adore the ladylike silhouette and being pear shaped, I really love that they emphasize my waist and float over, instead of hug, my thighs. I’m wearing a medium in this skirt and find the fit and length to be just right. Be sure to check the measurements on the size guide if you are considering buying anything from this online store.
I won’t be posting tomorrow due to it being Christmas, but wanted to wish you all a very Merry Christmas! I’m very lucky to be able to count this blog as one of my many blessings this year.
When I was little, my mom would buy me a Christmas dress every year. Once I became a teenager, this stopped and we became more of a “jeans on Christmas” kind of family. This week, I wanted to show a couple different casual outfits for spending time with family as well as my Christmas Eve outfit; my family started going out to dinner on Christmas Eve about five years ago and so this is usually when everyone gets a little more dressed up.
This shirt immediately jumped out at me; I love the combination of stripes and sequins. As I’ve mentioned before, I have found that the sequins on my inner arms and sides can catch on each other so wearing it with a blazer was an easy way to avoid this problem.
{How cute are these reindeer gift tags from Hobby Lobby?} I have a big love-hate relationship with blazers. I like them to be more fitted and less boxy; I’m pear shaped so looking like a long rectangle really does nothing for me. I thrifted this one earlier this year, thinking that for $5, it could be altered if I wanted. I never did get it tailored and have grown to love the boxy fit and that it’s machine washable, which is so rare with blazers. The burgundy color is different in that it’s not the navy or black I’d usually immediately go for, but it still matches well with most items. I chose this one for this outfit, because I like that the burgundy subtly adds some Christmas color without being over the top (which I do like at times, to be fair.)
This outfit is one I would actually wear to Christmas with my family because of the simplicity and fun touch with the sequins. I opted for a red lip to bring in a some more subtle festive vibes and a pretty rose gold eye shadow from my very favorite eye shadow palette. I have a few now and can honestly say that the Naked palette is still the one I end up reaching for first. While it’s a bit pricy, it is included in Ulta‘s 20% off sale for rewards members right now making it $43. These palettes only get included in this sale ~twice a year so it’s a good time to purchase and think about other pricy makeup items you may be considering. I grabbed this highlighter while I was in line last week so that I could finally see what all the fuss was about and I love it.
It’s strange to think that you’d never catch me in a watch four to five years ago, especially considering that I feel naked without one on my wrist now. For me, a watch is the perfect center to any arm party. Lately, I’ve been into letting my watch be my lone wrist adornment.
This week’s been all about running around and finishing up all of the last minute Christmas errands as well as taking daily trips to the post office. Comfort’s been key, so a pullover sweater over a button down has been the perfect style equation. The other perfect companion, my new Jord watch! Jord offers free worldwide shipping and if you’re in the continental US, you can still get your order before Christmas as long as you order by Sunday!
When my watch first arrived, I was blown away by the gorgeous wood storage box it came in. Of course, before I could even pull the watch out of the box, my mom swooped right in to ooh and ahhh over the craftsmanship. To be fair, how often do you see someone wearing a wood watch? It’s for sure one of the most unique statement pieces you could wear or gift to someone. On top of being highly detailed and unique, the watch also smells phenomenal; this one is made of zebrawood and maple and the combination makes the coloring one that could be worn by anyone, male or female.
I love the Delmar series of watches for the men that may be still lingering on your list; my uncle and dad are always ridiculously hard to shop for and I think this one would suit both of them. (I love this coloring of the watch too.) For the ladies, I really like the Frankie and Cora options as well as the Fieldcrest that I’m wearing.
These watches are available in a variety of colors and finishes and they can size the watch for you. Mine arrived a little too snug, so I took the watch to my local fast fix jeweler and had them add a link back into the watch. My watch came in the beautiful wood box, pictured above, that is part of Jord’s unique signature and tucked away inside were three extra links. I love the embroidered, herringbone pillow that the watch is on; the wood really pops against it.
Want to try one out? In the spirit of the season, I’ve teamed up with Jord to offer $20 off to my readers. Simply click here and follow the instructions. Let me know what you end up getting!
