Happy Wednesday! This week has been FLYING by for me; today I’m sharing what I wore to an event I attended two weeks ago at Jeptha Creed. I get a lot of questions from readers about Louisville and Kentucky in general and wanted to share the unique Bourbon Trail experience that Jeptha Creed allowed me to have as well as what I wore!

How to Have a Unique Bourbon Trail Experience | Ground to Glass Cocktail Class
Jeptha Creed is a distillery in Shelbyville, Kentucky; about 30 minutes from downtown Louisville. One of the cool things about this women owned, family operated business is that they grow as many of their ingredients as they can. When they can’t grow something {or grow the quantity they need}, they purchase locally. At the end of June, they had a ground to glass cocktail class that allowed attendees to see this in action. We got to tour the bar and dining portion of Jeptha Creed, learn about the business, and then chose one of three cocktails that we wanted to make ourselves.

We were driven out onto their farm to check out the barn where the bourbon is aging, the corn, and all of the herbs grown on the grounds. We picked our own herbs and then it was back to the main building to mix up our own drinks.
How to Have a Unique Bourbon Trail Experience | The Cocktails
We got to choose from three cocktails: the Roseberry Mule, an Apple Basil Spritzer, or the Mint to Be Sour. My friend Katie came with me as my plus one and went for the Mule while I decided to try the Spritzer. Every cocktail I had was delicious; I love that no one at Jeptha Creed is afraid of flavor and that their spirits are naturally flavored. Overall, this was such a cool experience and one I’d highly recommend looking into if you’re exploring the Bourbon Trail. During the summer months, they have food trucks out on Friday evenings as well as live music so definitely check them out if you’re local and looking for something new to try.

How to Have a Unique Bourbon Trail Experience | What I Wore
I’d never taken any kind of cocktail or mixology class before so I wasn’t totally sure what to wear. Ultimately, I knew I wanted to be comfortable but still a little cute so I threw on this floral cami from PinkBlush. This summer, I’ve been all about summer basics that I can remix lots of ways: camis, lots of solid colored pieces {not my usual}, statement accessories, etc. I’ve been on the hunt for nicer tanks that I can dress up or down so I was pretty excited about this blue floral one. The colors in it make it easy to style with a variety of pieces.

I mentioned solid colored clothing; if you’ve been reading my blog for any amount of time, you likely know that I’m a HUGE fan of prints. Lately I’ve been trying to fill holes in my closet and it just so happens that most of those are holes created by not having enough solid clothing. Printed shorts and skirts are my jam, but of course a solid will give you a little more bang for your buck. I bought this dark rinse denim skirt two summers ago and it really is one of those trusty pieces I know I can always reach for during the summer months.

How to Have a Unique Bourbon Trail Experience | The It Bag
Straw bags are EVERYWHERE this summer; I snagged this one from SheIn and have been so happy with it. The quality is good, it goes with most of my summer wardrobe, and I always get compliments on it. Before I went to Florida, I ran out to the outlets and when I came out of my dressing room at J. Crew a woman was waiting for me to ask about the bag. The fact that the bag has the crossbody strap as well as handles was a big selling point for me.

Of course we can’t talk summer outfits without mentioning statement earrings. Love love love these disc earrings from NY & Co. They’re surprisingly lightweight and being black and white they go with just about everything. {This is my nice way of saying you’ll probably see them 123374294092373210947 more times.} Let me know what holes you’ve filled in your summer wardrobe or if you’ve been to the Bourbon Trail in the comments!

What a great experience, and a fun way to support a women-owned business. If I am in Louisville, I will have to try it. Hubby wants to do the bourbon trail.
