Today marks 47 days to Election Day and time feels like it’s flying by while also moving so slowly. With today’s post, I want to share information on voter registration & options of how to vote this year. Plus, I’m sharing all the details on my fun VOTE graphic tee that my blogger friend, Jess created with Alice & Wonder. {BONUS: 10% of proceeds will be donated to Vote Save America’s Every Last Vote fund which is actively working to register new voters in key areas.}

First things first: check to see if you’re registered to vote. It’s a quick process {about thirty seconds} to make sure you’re registered and see if you need to update any of your information. {Example: since I moved since the last election, I need to update my voter registration!}

Everything You Need to Know About Voting & Election 2020 | What’s At Stake & Why Down Ballot Races are Important
Historically, voter turnout is higher for presidential elections, but down ballot races are similarly important. Last year, I voted in Kentucky’s state elections on a number of elected offices from governor to attorney general. We’ve all been able to see firsthand how important these offices are; Kentucky’s handling of the pandemic would have looked very different if the former governor had been reelected. This summer, thousands of people called into the Kentucky attorney general’s office to ask Daniel Cameron to hold police accountable for the shooting of Breonna Taylor in Louisville.

Before you vote, be sure to look at which elected offices are going to be on your ballot and take time to see which candidates most closely reflect your beliefs.
Everything You Need to Know About Voting & Election 2020 | Early Voting, Absentee Ballots, Vote By Mail, & In Person Voting
Voting options differ from state to state; some states will automatically send you a ballot if you’re registered, but most require you to request one. Check out How to Vote to see the options you have in your state! If you’re concerned about the safety of voting, know that you likely don’t have to vote in person on Election Day this year.
Everything You Need to Know About Voting & Election 2020 | My Voting Plan
Most of you know, but I recently moved from Louisville, Kentucky to Northern Virginia so I am in the process of becoming registered to vote in Virginia. After that, I’ll be able to choose between voting by mail, early voting in person, or waiting until Election Day. I’m planning to early vote in person. Virginia voters can vote early from September 18 – October 31, 2020.

Kentucky friends: if you want to vote via absentee ballot/vote by mail, you need to request your ballot by October 9. If you request a ballot, you won’t be able to vote in person unless you don’t receive your ballot by October 28th. If you choose to vote in person, you have two options. You can vote early in person from October 13th – November 2nd OR you can vote in person on Election Day.
Everything You Need to Know About Voting & Election 2020 | About My United We VOTE Tee!
Jess Keys from The Golden Girl Blog teamed up with Alice & Wonder to create this cute VOTE graphic tee that just went live today! As I mentioned earlier, 10% of proceeds are being donated to the Every Last Vote fund from Vote Save America which is working to support on the ground efforts to mobilize BIPOC and other marginalized communities that are regularly voter disenfranchisement targets.
I’m wearing the XS here but would size up one if I wanted a looser fit that I could knot. The tee is available in sizes XS-4X. This election certainly will be an important one and I hope all of you that are able to, exercise your right to vote.
