Friends it’s been a minute but hopefully this post helps explain some of the why…we launched a podcast! At the beginning of 2020, my friend Tomi and I started posting weekly recaps of The Bachelor on her YouTube channel and before long we began to talk about the possibility of starting a podcast. We spent months really nailing down what we envisioned and at the end of May we launched our podcast, Content Culture!

What Our Podcast Is About | We Launched a Pop Culture Podcast!
We -love- all things pop culture; it’s pretty common for us to text each other with a ‘did you see this?!’ and link to a tweet or entertainment article. Whether it’s the days trending topics on Twitter, the latest royal news, or a think piece on female rappers — we love to deep dive and give our takes on what’s happening.

As told by us:
Content Culture brings together an inclusive, witty, and dynamic community of listeners to discuss all things pop culture and reality tv. Hosted by Nicole Green and Tomi Obebe, this podcast gives an unfiltered, clever, and Black take on what’s happening.
Where Do We See It Going? | We Launched a Pop Culture Podcast!
Our goal isn’t necessarily to be a Bachelor nation-centric podcast; we eventually hope to expand to two weekly episodes. One dedicated to reality recaps (a la The Bachelorette, Love Island, Too Hot to Handle, etc) and one episode dedicated completely to pop culture. For the time being, you can expect a new episode every Wednesday with the video version of the podcast dropping each Friday on our YouTube channel.

Why I’m Excited | We Launched a Pop Culture Podcast!
On top of being a fun project, I’ve been actively looking for different ways to connect with my social media audience this year. Launching my newsletter, Not to Be Dramatic, was a great way to kick off 2021 and has proven to be a great way to engage with followers and readers outside of Instagram and my blog. It absolutely makes my day when I get email replies to the Friday newsletter or DMs about what you thought about the weekly roundup of dating app fails.

My hope with Content Culture is that it provides another way to connect about something outside of what I’m wearing. My love for reality TV runs deep and I love to dissect how the latest entertainment news ties in with our day to day lives. On a personal level, launching a new endeavor like this pushes me creatively and expands my skillset. I didn’t have much experience with audio editing prior to this so it’s been very cool to learn.
What to Expect | We Launched a Pop Culture Podcast!
We’ve kicked off our first season with an introduction episode: who we are, why we decided to start podcasting, and how we became obsessed with all things pop culture. From there we’ve dove into Katie Thurston’s season of The Bachelorette; we tend to spend the first half of each episode discussing entertainment news before sharing a recap of the latest episode with our thoughts.
I hope you’ll subscribe and give us a listen!
