How’s your closet looking? Towards the end of March I realized that my closet was in a desperate need of a refresh. It’s still weird to know that I spent almost twelve months without buying new clothes. And that when I did, it was loungewear.

What in Your Closet Makes You Happy? | Dealing with a Changing Body
My body has changed over the past year and some of my older favorites no longer fit. While this can be frustrating {and even triggering for some}, it’s important to remember that our bodies do their best to take care of us and that looks different in different environments. Love this reminder from We’re Not Weighting: wearing clothes that fit your body is self care.

Since I love to shop, this wasn’t quite a challenge.
What in Your Closet Makes You Happy? | Sparking Joy For Me
After a year of mostly sweats, leggings, my trusty Nike shorts, and XL t-shirts, I’ve found myself less excited to wear fitted clothing. My taste lately leans more towards flowy fits and I’m definitely all for the bold and colorful statement pieces. {Here’s a look at some recent items that I had in my online shopping cart.}

My goal with my closet going forward is to really lean into that. Hoping this summer is full of maxi dresses, midi skirts, comfortable blouses, and lots of colorful pieces.
What in Your Closet Makes You Happy? | This Gingham Outfit
It was love at first sight with this colorful midi skirt. Big fan of gingham, I love a good midi skirt, and these bold colors are so fun for spring and summer. I’m wearing a size 2 in the skirt and this fabric is also available in a v-neck blouse if you wanted to get matchy matchy and build your own set.

I’m wearing it here with an old LOFT blouse in a sunshiney yellow that makes me happy, but really could wear a blouse in any of the colors throughout the skirt; also love the idea of pairing it with an orange top.
This Vera Bradley crossbody wristlet has been an MVP for me over the past year. It holds my cards, license, cash, and has both the wristlet and adjustable crossbody strap. The second zipper section is large enough to hold the key fob for my new car and I really like being able to be hands free whether I’m grocery shopping or taking a long walk. The new version is large enough to also hold an iPhone which is super convenient.
